Lightroom Classic 7.5: Presets - 'Update with Current Settings Option' missing from context menu

In another thread it was said that this behaviour was solved in 7.5. I still see it though and am not able to update any preset (see screenshot). Any advice on how to get the content menu to show the full list of entries?

Try it on a USER preset. I do not think it will work on a built-in preset...I cannot really tell from the screenshot which type of preset you are trying to update (yours or a built-in)

Thanks Joel! This is VSCO presets, so not built-in

To build on Joel's suggesiton, try creating a dummy preset in the User Presets folder and right-clicking that. Perhaps the problem is related to third-party presets and/or presets converted from an earlier version of LR.

ok, did that and it does work on a preset showing up in "User Presets". Any idea how to make this work for presets showing up in another grouping?

In my LR 7.5, it works OK on presets I create and place into new groups.

Are the problem presets all third-party (e.g. VSCO) or are some of the problem presets ones you created?

Did you acquire the third-party presets prior to LR 7.3 or after?

No problem. Click the Global Reset button on the bottom far right of the develop module. Then click the one preset you want to change. Now, create a new preset with a similar name in the User Presets group. Now go back and make any desired changes. Then update you new preset and you will have it!

Please copy the first ten lines of Help > System Info here. That will show the exact configuration you're running.

"When I go through the preferences menu the folder opening up is in Macintosh HD >users >etc...., whereas the presets are actually in Macintosh HD > Library >etc"

LR 7.3 changed the format and location of presets.  User and third-party presets are now stored in

/Users/user/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/Settings

If you have some of these third-party presets stored in /Library, that could be the cause of the problem, causing LR to think they're "built-in".  Try moving all of your presets out of the /Library folder and into the /Users folder.

that worked and fixed the issue. Thanks a million John! No idea how the files ended up in the wrong location...

When LR 7.3 came out with the new-format presets and folder locations, there wasn't an "import" command or a Show Lightroom Develop Presets button. And LR would automatically convert presets from the old location to the new. So there was understandably massive confusion about where to store presets.
