Lightroom: CC Desktop installation failed again
Hi,
Always the same bug when installing an Adobe CC Desktop update :
- Adobe CC Desktop suggests an update
- The installer is downloaded and the installation begins
- At 100%, Adobe CC Desktop quits without any error message and that's it.
- When I relaunch CC Desktop, it suggests the update again... Never ending loop.
I have already explained what's happening but obviously, my reports didn't reach the developer. Trying again...
After the installation has crashed, I find myself with 2 folders on my disk that are 2 different copies of CC Desktop :
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Creative Cloud and C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Creative Cloud. (in that case 3.9.0.334). The first one is the old version and the second is the new one. Obviously, the installer failed to make the switch.
So I have to manually rename the folders to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Creative Cloud.old and C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Creative Cloud respectively after killing all the related running processes. I can then launch the new version and delete the old one.

This morning Adobe CC Desktop started by itself and displayed the never ending spinning wheel. I had to kill the process after an hour. I tried a repair and once again, the installer displayed the stupid warning about the Windows version (I'm running Windows 10 1809)
Ridiculous. Nobody able to fix this long lasting oddity at Adobe ?
So, no repair. Uninstalling Adobe CC Desktop alone is not possible without uninstalling all the Adobe stuff. No, thanks. So I started the usual procedure to reinstall (see above) and the installation succeeded. But Adobe CC Desktop app now won't start. I'm stuck.
I have been really patient but now I'm seriously considering moving to DxO Photolab and Affinity Photo. I'm really, really fed up with these never ending installation/update problems. I'm spending too much time fixing these issues while Adobe didn't make any effort to produce a decent installer for their applications.
We have to get rid of this beast. Adobe CC Desktop is a failure and should be withdrawn. Period. I guess a few developers should also go back to school.
