Awesome, we are in the 3rd month of 2017 and Adobe give us Lightroom 2015/6.9.Been waiting for that since 2015/6.8 which finally arrived for me 2 weeks ago.C'mon Adobe, these dot releases are milking your subscribers and pi/irritating so many.

Many people expect Lightroom CC2017 to be a major new release, but if you think that, you haven't understood the principle of the CC subscription. If you have a CC subscription, you get new functionality as soon as it is ready, rather than having to wait for a 'big bang upgrade' every two or three years.  So if and when Lightroom CC2017 is released, you'll find that it probably won't be such a major upgrade at all (for CC subscribers, it will be more for perpetual licence holders because they will get all the new functionality of CC2015.1 through 2015.9). No doubt there will be some new functionality, but probably not (much) more than in the average dot releases you are complaining about.

Well, considering that most of the updates from CC2015.2-CC2015.9 have been backtracks and multiple attempts to repair broken functionality (some of which remain broken) for many items caused by either poor decision making or insufficient pre-release testing.

Subscribers really haven't received much in the way of 'new functionality' when you balance the scales by acknowledging the problems incurred by many users over the past year or so. Most of which could have been avoided if Adobe management didn't consider their subscribers as pay-to-play beta testers.

I'm not going to argue with that. I just explained why one should not expect a Lightroom CC2017 launch with a wealth of new features.

Same issue as this - https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/tone-curve-still-broken-in-lr-cc2015-8?utm_so...? Although most reporting are on Mac, I would like to confirm the same issue on Windows 10.

Same here, curve adjustments are not working on Sierra and not fixed as claimed in the release notes.

I'm very disappointed!

Hi, I just updated and I still do not have the dehaze slider. WHat can I do?

You don’t need Dehaze. It’s a gimmick intended to lure you into subscribing to Creative Cloud. Don’t fall for it.

If you have CC and upgraded it should be at the bottom of your effects pull down. Also, I do not use it much but when I do it has worked great. I would not suggest it for most photos. I think it works great when a photo is washed out looking even without haze. I do not feel it is a gimmick at all and it has saved me time. Like most effects, you do not need it all the time.

Well, you know, curves work just fine in Lr 5 on Sierra, and Lr 5 doesn’t need to be authorized, so if Adobe can’t or won’t fix this (my guess is the real fix will be in Lr 7 which will probably have a new name and be subscription-only), why not just bite the bullet and revert back to Lr 5? It works fine, and if you do it right you won’t lose your ratings or keywords or adjustments.

Well A good work, improvements.

But I'm wandering in forums and tip and tricks pages in order :
TO IMPORT AN APERTURE LIBRARY IN LIGHTROOM ?

It seems now a work to be done manually ???

And I wonder too, wether Adobe will be strong enough to propose a new plug-in to import Apple's Aperture Library. You know Apple is your best friend !

Best :-)

Huh? The Aperture import plugin is still there. You have to invoke it through 'File - Plug-in Extras' though.

Thank you ! Huh ! But it does not work. In 2015.8 ? The import button is inactive.

And Chat support this morning, told me that I ́ll have to import my Aperture Library with a "smooth" manual religious method ?

So... Any help or advise is welcome ?

All I can say is that the Import button is active if I try it. Did you check the available disk space at the bottom? The plugin checks this and if the space is insufficient the button remains inactive.

Thank you Johan.

So, I tried again with this new release of Lr 6.9 or 2015.9

Lightroom scan my Aperture Library but does not indicate the number of photos and their global weight (About 22.000 pictures) ?

Perhaps, because they are on an dedicated external drive but with sufficient disk space ? I cannot know why it doesn't indicates theses datas ...

Uninstall and reinstall should do the trick. Here's the 6.0 and 6.8 patch links: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-downloads.html OS 10.9.5 is not supported on recent versions.

So, how do i initiate the update? I click on Help/Update ... nothing happens. I have closed and opened LR CC several times. The Help/Update does nothing.

I have Mac OS 10.12.3 Sierra and LR CC 2015.8.

I have snooped around looking for hidden windows... nothing.

Have you looked in the CC app in your menu bar (the little shackle on its side)? That is how you update CC apps.

In the old days Adobe had to make new features and releases. Otherwise we would not upgrade and would remain with what we have. Not they go stagnant, even years without a substantial updates and still get the money because we pay every month to use the same product.

Exactly what we feared when CC came out is coming true.

What features would you like to see them add? It's fairly mature software these days, so it won't progress at the rate it did in the early days.

Fair point. But it's really not moving forward. We've had essentially the same Lightroom for how long now?

- No network support.
- No  new process version since 2012.
- No color manipulation features that were even in Aperture and now in other tools.
- Lack of improved video develop support.
- Lack of ability to use local adjustments with the full slate of develop tools.

Up until cloud we saw notable updates. New process versions that improved image quality. LR is well behind in process quality with software like Capture One. Mature software does not prevent new tools, innovation and refinements. I think it's becoming clear that Adobe is slacking off because they can.

I have always loved LR. But I am getting more requests all the time to stat developing add ons for the other guys. Now that competition is bad, but Adobe better pick up the game.
Lightroom is getting dated and we  are noticing.

What features would i like to see them add?  Forget the features, how bout they fix the overall DOG SLOWNESS of the program.

@G Seim: What do you not like in the current process version? Or is it that you think it needs to be update every few years, just because it has existed for a few years?

The idea that CaptureOne is so much better than Lightroom is a myth. It's based on looking at default settings, rather than using both programs to their fullest:
http://lightroomkillertips.com/brilliant-article-martin-evening-lightroom-vs-capture-one-pro/

I'm not saying that Lightroom cannot be improved, and I agree that development seems to have slowed down, in favour of Lightroom Mobile. But I don't think Lightroom is getting dated. It can still do a lot more than most competitors, and it's still the only one with decent digital asset management as well.

What I would like to see is much more focus on solving small and bigger irritations that have existed sometimes for many years. Just look around in this forum, where people are asking for years to get things like:
- Ability to zoom in when using the crop tool
- Lightroom remembering the selected image when you switch between folders and/or collections.
- Secondary window not going back to grid view when you go to grid view on the main window and then back to another view.
- Published collections want you to update a lot of images even though you didn't do anything with these images.
- Smart collections do not properly handle keywords with a space in them.
- Indeed: overall slowness.
just to give a few examples.

All valid features. I think the main point here is that LR is not speeding up and not gaining new features at a substantial rate. Yet we are still paying as if it was.

As for C1. My work requires that I understand quality at an extensive level. While generaly I prefer using LR, there is no doubt that C1 has a process version advantage at times. On challenging images the smoothness of color gradients can be night and day. I have tested this for myself. The process version has been lagging in subtle details for some time. That's not to say it's bad, but that it could be getting better.

Hey Victoria ! Can you suggest to them after all these years maybe throwing all of their resources at rendering issues that plague large gamut screens!  that would most likely solve the overall dog slowness of the program :)
