Lightroom: CC 2015.2 on MacOS 10.11 crashes

Lightroom 2015.2 has killed my capacity to work - it is constantly crashing (and yes, I have ticked off the box in the preferences)

How can we go back to 2015.1

Adobe, how can you have gotten this so wrong?

ARE ANY OF YOU REPORTING THESE PROBLEMS TO ADOBE?

Yes we must contact Adobe technical support and tell them.

Otherwise they will never know and the occasional person that does report the problems will not be believed.

The best thing that you can help when you experienced a crash, is to submit the crash log to Adobe through Adobe's Crash Report dialog (Mac) and Microsoft through the Windows crash report mechanism.

Those will provide a lot of context for the team to investigate. If you're willing, please provide your email address (in case we need to contact you if your situation is unique) and a brief description of what you are doing inside Lightroom when the crash happens. The development team is actively monitoring the reports looking for any patterns.

In my case, the program would crash so often that I really couldn't use it for anything but sending crash reports. I think it's a little bit much to ask us to try to use such a defective product just so you'll have beta testers

This is very disappointing. I have clients waiting on their photos and this has completely disrupted my regular workflow. I just had three crashes trying to 'Delete Rejected Photos', that is after 3 crashes just trying to import my latest session into LR (had to resort to doing a manual import go copying the files, synching the folder, then writing keywords). This needs to be fixed ASAP or a rollback option needs to be provided as a temporary fix.

Thank you all who provided suggestions on how to rollback this buggy and malfunctioning update. I am back to stock LR6 and will not update until people report the new version as stable and functioning fully.

Have sent several reports. Using a Mac. When a memory card is inserted, Photos" opens and wants to download. Lightroom promptly dies. Unable to stopPhotos opening or wanting to download. Appears a conflict between Lightoom and Photos. Unable to delete Photos as integral part of new OS Any suggestions please?

usually you can stop apple photos from wanting to download a memory card by inserting it, when photos pops up, uncheck the box that says download from this device (or some such), and it won't attempt to download from it anymore. It must be done for each device

Every time you erase the card, you have to repeat the process. At least with Canon formatted cards. It's really a case of both Apple, and Adobe updating software to make it less functional, more frustrating, and dumber.

It looks as if computer technology has peaked and we are now going backwards.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled LR 2015.2 quits frequently.

LR 2015.2 quits frequently on my Macbook Pro Retina. 2015.1 worked well without major problems. The newest quits after a few minutes repeatedly. How do I get my problem into the system so this problem can be fixed.

I am seeing the same issue. LR crashes immediately after starting up. When I reset the settings it will live for a couple of seconds and then crash.
when I start a new catalog, it will live until I add a picture.
The same issue happens in a new user and after reinstalling.

I am really disappointed that Adobe would push such a terrible update without proper testing. Everybody loves the frequent updates through Creative Cloud, but if Adobe can not QC properly at this pace, they should revert to a less frequent update schedule.

Hi All,

Adobe is aware of the issue & we are working on a fix.

Please refer to the link below for the same.

If they have questions of comments about the changes, point them to the Lightroom team blog post on the subject here:

http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjourn...

Also, in order to keep the updated Lightroom working please refer to link below:

Thanks

Okay, I "fixed" it...

for those that have the same problem that I had, that LR was crashing so fast that you could not get to the settings...

- Start up with "opt" or "alt" held down.
- choose to create a new empty Catalog
- Disable the offending setting
- restart LR with "opt" and select your proper catalog

This Workaround seems to have done the trick for me.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Crashing Lightroom.

Having updated Lightroom this morning onto my iMac running El Capitan, Lightroom opens ok but as soon as I click IMPORT or try to edit an existing photo, the App just closes with no warning or message. What's going on guys?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled LR crashes regularly when executing certain file operations.

Computer: iMac, OS X El Capitan 10.11. After the El Capitan update Photoshop and Lightroom continued to work without any problems.
After latest Lightroom CC update:
LR crashes regularly (that means without any exception) when attempting
1. to save metadata to the file (by any means / via menue or by shortcut - ctr s),
2. to convert RAW files into DNG,
3. to export files into LR.
No way to get it to work. First time ever, I encountered problems with LR or Photoshop. Looks like a bug.

Hi everybody. Problems have been solved by the links supplied by Mandhir Bhatia (https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/...), though a new bug appeared afterwards: now the synchronization of files does not work properly. LR 6 is telling me i.e. "76 files to be imported". After import it says: "no files found to be imported". Nevertheless, all files are actually available and they are the correct versions. This is certainly not ideal, but I can work that way better than before (with care!!!). Good luck to all of you.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Lastest version of Lightroom CC keep crashing repeatedly and randomly on Windows.

Just updated to the latest version of Lightroom CC and it keeps crashing (not responding) at random points; tethered capture, adjusting photo, exporting, etc. It happens every couple of minutes.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled LR2015.2 performance and close down issues.

Since upgrading to Lightroom 2015.2 I have seen three key bugs/problems. Firstly the UI has become extremely sluggish to the point of being unusable. This has improved since unticking the "show 'add photos' screen". Secondly, LR does not appear to fully shut down and I have to go into Task Manager to shut down the app in the task list before I can successfully start the program again. Thirdly, despite ticking the 'once a week' option on the library back up, I am being prompted for this every time I exit LR.

I'll be reverting to 6.1 until these are fixed!

Same behaviour on my Windows 10. Lightroom does not shut down correctly. Process stays open in Task Manager. That brings us to the Point where the suggested fix does not work proper. Because in my opinion the preferences changes will not be stored if you kill the lightroom process in Task Manager. So I have to do this several times until Lightroom shuts down correctly one time with closing the Task correctly to.

I am officially dead in the water with Lightroom (CC version 2015.2).

I am running Mac OS X 10.11 on a 27" iMac. I initially thought it was an import issue so I tried using a different memory card (I have dual slots and backup to the second card), copied the images directly into the appropriate folder in Finder, etc with no success.

I found it wasn't specific to importing when trying to look at images in another folder.

Closing and relaunching the program doesn't resolve it.

Uninstalling and reinstalling a new copy of LR 2015.2 doesn't resolve it.

I verified that all of my applications and OS are 100% updated did a full shut down and restart... no luck.

I have a lot of work to do and am increasingly frustrated.

There's a hot fix coming soon, but if you need to work in the meantime, here's the rollback instructions. http://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-...

Unchecking “Show ‘Add Photos’ Screen” in Lightroom > Preferences > General appears to be helping but I am not sure that this is 100% solved.
