Not a problem

Lightroom: Can't sync between Lightroom 5 on desktop and Lightroom CC - blank white box after entering email and password

I've just subscribed to Lightroom CC as my desktop Lightroom 5 crashes all the time now. When I go to top left on my desktop LR 5 to sign in and sync, I enter my email and password in the pop up box, the box goes white and then nothing happens. Any ideas?

I don't think you want to sync (sync won't work with such an old version of Lightroom). You probably either want to upgrade your Lightroom 5 catalog to Lightroom Classic 8 catalog (if you plan to use Lightroom Classic) or migrate the photos directly from Lightroom 5 to Lightroom CC: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/using/migrate-to-lightroom-cc.html

Follow Jeff’s advice, login to Lightroom 8, then import your LR 5 catalog (s).

Thanks! I can't find an option to upgrade to LR 8, only LR 6. Will that still work?

No, I believe Lightroom Classic is the minimal version. You should be able to install a trial version of LR Classic and use that just to upgrade your LR5 catalog.

Thanks! I've followed your tip and it's syncing. Can I use LR 8 to edit photos while it's syncing or is it best just to let it do its thing?

I started syncing it three hours ago and it's still saying 0 bytes of 1 TB used. How do I know if it's working?

How big is your catalog? It may take some time.

It has 24,000 photos. That doesn't seem like a lot though, but I'm not sure how to find the catalog size in bytes.

That's pretty good size. Let it chew through it overnight and check back with us.

It's been syncing for 24 hours but still says 0 bytes of 1 TB... Where am I going wrong?
