Lightroom: Cannot export some images - unsupported or damaged files in 3.4

After downloading to 3.4 I cannot export some images. I had no problems the day before using 3.2

Hi Robert, can you confirm what type of images they are, and from what camera please? And does it throw any error message? Do they have question marks in the corners of the thumbnails?

Hi Victoria, the images are JPGs, from a Sony DSC-W80. The only message that pops up says unsupported or damage files. I went back this morning and looked for question marks in the thumbnail - none.

Robert, can we get access to one of the corrupted files please? You could upload to www.yousendit.com and post the download link here if you don't mind it being publicly available, or you're welcome to email direct to me at victoria AT lightroomqueen DOT com if you'd like it sent directly to Adobe.

And have you written metadata to them at any time, either by having Automatically Write to XMP turned on or by hitting Ctrl-S?

There are a few possibilities - dying hardware is usually the culprit - but there's a bug in 3.4 that's corrupting very specific files, and I'd just like to get that ruled out too.

In the meantime, reverting to LR 3.3 would be a good idea, and restoring the files from your backups. If it's possible to get a copy of the uncorrupted backup file, that would likely help too.

I'll carry on sorting this one with Robert by email. The file Robert sent doesn't show any corruption, so it may just be a corrupted preview cache or something machine-specific.

OK. Let us know what the issue is if you track it down so we can resolve this thread. Thanks Victoria!
