Lightroom: Auto sync does not work for all the selected pics

Lightroom 5.2When selecting a group of photos and having auto sync enabled some pictures do not get the modifications made. For example I select all the picture in a folder, I set to auto-sync, an set the white balance to Auto, some pictures are set to auto WB but others are set to personalized...Same with crop settings: I select a group of pictures, set the crop to 1:1, and some get synced others stay with the original proportions...This is really not right !

UP : Come on... nobody noticed that bug ?
I'm consistently unable to sync auto WB through more than 10 or 20 pictures of any selected group: the rest is set to personalized, with values being the same for all pictures, but nowhere close to what they shoud...

Strangely I noticed that the values ares always the same so far: temp = 5001, tint = +10
When I get on one of those pictures, the history shows "White balance : Auto"
(original is in french so labels might be a bit off) If I set AWB again with the mouse using the panel on the right, a second line with the same text is added to history but then the WB is good. If I go with the menu or the keyboard shortcut ctrl+maj+u, a line is also added but the text is different: "White balance automatic" (original in french again), which seems odd... but then again the white balance is corrected.

please don't tell me it's a "feature"...

It's still the same in 5.3! Even worse for me, and I suspect may others because I am unable to flag/rate the active picture in survey mode. This creates a massive issue with worlkflow. See my recent post:

Why has no one reponded to this clearly defined bug??!

I'm not seeing this problem. I'm selecting 15 photos, and auto sync and cropping works on all the images.
A couple thoughts - the previews in Filmstrip update not in order, and they can take some time. Your images aren't updated visually even when you select the images individually in Develop?
Are the images you're choosing all similar? Auto WB might not work the same on all the images. Does the same thing happen if you choose something other than Auto WB?
If these suggestions don't make a difference, you'll want to reset your preferences:

Auto Sync sometimes seems to apply adjustments to those photos in the filmstrip only and its driving me nuts. I've tried everything, LR says task finished each time I apply an adjustment with all (138 in this case) photos selected and it just isnt working. Same with Sync and apply chosen adjustments to selected photos and it just doesnt work reliably when there's say a 100 or more photos. I'm beginning to think you have to wait a long time watching photos change their appearance in grid view before Syncing again when the adjustments appear to have been applied and if that is the case, there should be a progress bar .......
Using Mac 10.9.1 with SSD, 3.4GHz i7 and 16Gb RAM ........ slow as anything ......

SOLUTION

OMG, I have had this problem for months and NO ONE has been able to help.
I can report that I have finally found out what the problem is and a fix to the problem.
To FIX THE PROBLEM of lightroom not syncing changes across multiple images is to Purge the Cache.
Go to Edit, Preferences. Under the Camera Raw Cache Settings, click the Purge Cache button. Problem fixed.
Now we need to ask Adobe to fix this in future updates so that Cache does not have this problem.

Feel free to send me some money via paypal for beer to robholding at hotmail.com

Guys, I think the answer lies in viewing the thumbnails in grid view after you've hit the sync... button.

LR undertakes a considerable amount of processing when synchronising and when you're viewing the thumbnails you'll see 3 little dots on the top right corner of each one which gradually disappear as the images are processed in what appears to be a random order.

Purging cache might / will speed things up but from what I can see, LR does process all the images eventually, it can just take a very long time and a proper progress bar would help enormously.

Are you running the latest CC update (2015.3) Ross? Can you confirm your operating system and computer specs? And also which settings you're auto syncing? I haven't been able to reproduce this problem in recent builds but there may be a detail I'm missing.

This is a problem I'm encountering (2015.8/ build 1099473). It's a real issue when trying to batch process timelapse sequences in lightroom which is extremely frustrating - it'll apply to the photos that are visible in the filmstrip, and some others, but at some point it looks like it just gives up as it goes down the line. Happy to work with a technical rep from Lightroom to provide more repro information.

I have this exact problem too and I think I'm going to have a nervous breakdown over it! Anybody know of any software that works for syncing around 1000 photos for timelapses?!

After syncing or copying/pasting the settings, select all the photos and do Library > Previews > Build Standard-Sized Previews.  Wait for that to complete.  Do all the thumbnails now show your settings correctly?

With respect, we should not have to do to that in order for the settings to sync.
It is a bug that adobe refuses to admit exists.

I completely agree that Adobe should fix this bug. However, this problem has been extant for many years without a fix, and people who have work to do need a work-around.
