Lightroom: Appending captions

Lightroom seems to be lacking the ability to append captions. I'd like to be able to add in extra information in the same way that I might add an extra keyword. For example, a batch of images might get a general caption to describe the event, but if I then want to add the names of the individuals pictured, it's a bit messy.

In general, a dedicated captioning/keywording module could be a really nice feature. Right now it's fairly decent, but tough if you want to quickly go through and add and modify caption information on a lot of images, it's not quite ideal.

thanks thanks,
-jj

You can do that with the current version. Select more than one photo caption will now read if the photos had different captions, then add your additional caption before or after the - press enter and the text will now be appended/prepended to the captions

Mads - thanks for the tip! (I never knew that). A couple of things:

* You must have 'Show Metadata for Target Photo Only' unchecked in Metadata menu (Library module). But, if you are like me, you keep that checked! - hmmmmm.......
* Caption will read '<mixed>', so insert text to prepend/append before/after that, e.g.

My Prefix <mixed>
<mixed> my suffix

After prepending or appending, it will just say <mixed> again.

Keyword list form in keyword consolidator also supports prepending / appending to title and/or caption fields for all selected photos, except it can do it with 'Show Metadata for Target Photo Only' checked too:
