Lightroom: Allow multiple versions to be installed contemporaneously

A while ago, don't know how far back exactly, you used to be able to set an option in the Creative Cloud desktop app to retain the previous version of LR when you update to a new one. No longer -- that advanced option is present for other CC apps but not LR.  It would be convenient for plugin developers, those who answer users questions, and the occasional user who wants to troubleshoot her own problems.

I have to keep a virtual machine for each version I want to test, which consumes a lot of disk space.

NEVER use Auto-update, trust me on this! Wait until you get the "all clear" from Jeff Harmon (Photo Taco Podcast) or Victoria Bampton (lightroomqueen.com) that it's OK to upgrade.

I too would very much like to keep the ability to keep multiple version available.  It's very nice to be able to switch back to a previous version when the latest update has serious performance issues.

You can uncheck 'Remove Older Versions' if that is what you mean.

We can't uncheck Remove Older Versions for Lightroom Classic because it doesn't have the Advanced Options dropdown menu. Your screenshot shows Advanced Options (Geavanceerde Opties) for Photoshop but not Lightroom Classic.

You are correct, sorry! Nevertheless, you can (re-)install older versions. I presume the newer version stays on your system in that case.

Unfortunately, when you try to install another version of Lightroom Classic, the Creative Cloud app always removes the currently installed version of Lightroom Classic.

With LR 10 installed, here's what happens when I start installing LR 9.4:

And when the installation of 9.4 is complete, 10.0 has been removed:
Re-installing 10.0 removes 9.4:

Before installing the new version, rename the folder containing the current version (ususally C:\Programs\Adobe\Adobe Lightromm Classic).

Then install the new version. Use shorcuts to decide which version to run.

The only cullprit is that both versions will share the same preferences.

I used to do that but sometime in the past year or two it stopped working for me -- I can't remember the details.  I'll give it a try again, thanks.
