Lightroom 6.3: Slideshow does not work. Error: "Sequencer defunct"

I installed LR 6.3 (WIN7 64bit). After starting LR says "Sequencer defunct". I tried to start a ad hoc slideshow - but unfortunally it will not work. LR counts the Images, but after there is only a black screen. I can ́t found any possibility to present the Show. I tried a new start of the Computer - but the same problem. Please help and repair this problem immediately

The solution, as added by wu yuhong

Hi Stephen, I made some changes of the video_toolkit.dll. Would it be possible that you replace the 6.3 video_toolkit.dll with the new video_toolkit.dll and see if the problem is still happen? Please download the new video_toolkit.dll from the URL: http://adobe.ly/1kQp9MD, and they follow those steps below,

1. Uninstall your current version of Lr 6.2.1 and install Lr 6.3.
2. Goto the folder C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom\ and find a DLL named 'video_toolkit.dll'.
3. Rename it to 'video_toolkit.dll.original".
4. Down load the 'video_toolkit.zip' from Yuhong's CC shared url link (http://adobe.ly/1kQp9MD,). Unzip it.
5. Copy the 'video_toolkit.dll' from the unzipped folder to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom\.
6. Relaunch Lr 6.3 and see if the video problem persists.

Thanks a lot!

Hi Roland,

Can you try to launch the Lr in the trace mode so that I can get more useful information for this problem?

You would do this by invoking the actual binary from the Terminal app like this: "terminal-prompt"> /Applications/Adobe\ Photoshop\ Lightroom\ 5.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe\ Photoshop\ Lightroom\ 5 -tracebacks

Please make sure to attach all the trace logs. Thank you so much!.

Hi Wu,

are you sure this is the right path for WIN7? I can ́t find this. Enclosed you get the System Information of my LR. If you need more please tell me again.

To output the log from Win7, you should install the DebugView. Would you mind following those steps?

1, Download and unzip the DebugView: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896647.aspx

2, Open the "cmd.exe" tool. And, CD to the dbgView.exe folder. Then, specifiy a logfile.

For instance:
>cd c:\Users\<<YOUR_ACCOUNT>>\Desktop\DebugView\
>dbgView.exe /l c:\Users\<<YOUR_ACCOUNT>>\desktop\logfile

3, Copy the “config.lua” https://www.dropbox.com/s/jkusbbz6hzw28cl/config.lua?dl=0    file to the Lr preset folder.
Win7:
C:\Users\<<YOUR_ACCOUNT>>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom

After that, Please go ahead and launch the lightroom.  Please make sure to attach the log file to me. Thanks a lot!

Besides that, from your attached "system info",  it looks like the OpenGL check is failed on your machine. Would you mind upgrade your display card driver and see if the problem has gone?

I use a NVIDIA Geforce GT 325 M card. This card unfortunally is not supported by LR!

https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2010224

The path above is for MacOS

terminal-prompt"> /Applications/Adobe\ Photoshop\ Lightroom\ 5.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe\ Photoshop\ Lightroom\ 5 -tracebacks

What is the path for Windows 10 64bit

Thanks

I've checked both Windows 7 64-bit and Mac OS 10.9 with Lightroom 6.3 and do not get this error. My guess, based on the work you've performed in the forums Stephen, is that there may be a Windows update that is no installed (or not installed properly) and that we may have a damaged or missing DLL file.

Perhaps a dump file will suffice in lieu of a traceback (not 100% sure about these myself on Windows)?

1. Launch Lightroom
2. Launch Task Manager
3. Open the Slideshow module in Lightroom, error appears.
4. Right-click Lightroom in the Task Manager Applications tab, choose Create Dump File.
5. After the dump file is created, you will be given a path to where it is located on your hard drive.

Hi Brett

Thanks for your answer

What you say may be true...

I think a complete fresh install of win 10 64bit is due

I will let you know if this fixes the problem

In the meantime, please let me know if a fix becomes available for this slideshow module error

The only confusing thing is that, the slideshow module works fine in Lightroom v6 and v6.1, under the current installation of Win 10 64bit

Have the same problem with slideshow not working in LR6.3, in Mac OS X .
Getting the "error changing module".

Did you do a roll back to a prior version of Lightroom using Time Machine by chance?

We are seeing customers who end up with damaged installs hit this "error changing module" and other weirdness. The solution has been to run the uninstaller and reinstall.

I am going to do the roll back tonight and let you how goes it. FYI, ran the same slideshow with LR5 and its OK. Hence I do not think is the slideshow file.

Just to clarify - I was asking a question if you used Time Machine to do a rollback.

I'm not recommending you roll back. I'm suggesting doing an uninstall and reinstall which would fixed the damaged install, leaving you with the current version of Lightroom 6.3.

Same problem here, Edison Wong, even after updating to 6.3 from a clean 6.0 installation (on OSX 10.10.5).

I restored an old copy of LR6.2 from time machine. Then upgrade it to 6.3, This works. Slideshow module is running normal. I did not do a clean installation.

Unfortunately it didn't work for me. The slideshow module is working fine in 6.2, but keeps giving an error in 6.3.

Hi Brett, Hi Jeffrey,

this is my Lightroom path which is shown by using the Task Manager Applications/Create Dump File. I have updated from a running 6.2 Version to 6.3. Version 5.7 is still running without any problems!

The application path has nothing to do with dump files. The picture you are showing here is the Properties dialog, which also has nothing to do with dump files. I think something has been lost in translation here. Nothing in this dialog box provides the information requested.

I signed of my LR Registration. After I did this I tried again to start LR 6.3 - a wonder happened: LR starts without an error. I signed again - and LR 6.3 still works - hopefully it will do it in the future as well...

Hi Brett
I didn’t have time to do a complete fresh install of my operating system, I left it as is
Windows 10 Pro 64bit, Latest version
Latest GPU drivers, e.c.t

Getting this error message Sequencer Defunct on Slideshow Module, when I select the tab
Also getting import freezing, when around 50% complete

I have....
• Reinstalled the 6.3 update (still the same error)
• Created a new catalog (still the same error)
• Reset Lightroom preferences (still the same error)
• Complete uninstall / install then update to 6.3 (still the same error)

I have just uninstalled Lightroom completely and installed Lightroom v6
Then updated to v6.1.1 and all is working fine, under exactly the same operating system and drivers as the v6.3 install
v6.1.1, no Sequencer Defunct or Import Freezing error
In conclusion there must be something wrong with Lightroom v6.3?
Or was there something else I needed to do?
