Lightroom 6.14 is now available – last perpetual update of Lightroom

We are happy to announce the release of Lightroom 6.14.

To update Lightroom to 6.14, choose Help > Updates.

After automatic updating, the Lightroom crashes shortly after the intro window shows up. Message: "Lightroom encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit."

I am on Mac OS X Version 10.9.5, Photoshop & Lightroom CC membership.

Yes - follow the outlined procedure here: https://forums.adobe.com/message/10056258#10056258.

1) Uninstall your current Lightroom
2) Download and install the base version of Lightroom 6: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-downloads.html, enter "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6", download the "Application Installers" (the first link).
3) Download and install the last working version for you. For Mac OS X Version 10.9.5, Lightroom 6.6.1/2015.6.1  should work. I actually downloaded Lightroom 6.13, since this was the last version of Lightroom that worked on my platform.

I'm doing it through the cloud, so I did a little research and I don't believe I can do it this way.  I did uninstall and reinstall, but still having the problem.

My understanding is that you cannot use the Cloud for downgrading Lightroom. Use the Cloud to uninstall Lightroom, and then follow steps 2 and 3 above. It worked for me, anyway. If you have still problems, post your case on the adobe forum (first link in my first reply).

Good luck - its quite bad that the Clouds run through upgrades without checking for compatibility. Do you hear, Adobe?

In attempting to update my desktop LR to version 6.14 I downloaded the CC version 7 and am not sure how I now get to desktop version 6.14.  Any suggestions?

The performance problem is still there, where LR would eat more and more RAM and CPU power and battery, as long as you just keep using it to browse, tag, rate, etc. Not even edit.
This is absolutely proposterous. This problem has existed since 5.0. You've kept adding features and other nonsense, but a serious bug like this doesn't get solved.
Please explain why this is. How is it decided to keep this bug in the software??

LR 7.1 is the current version.  The 6.14 version of LR 6 was updated to include support for an important camera, and while LR 6 doesn't work well on your system, resources are engaged updating current versions of software.  No idea if LR 7 would work well on your system or not.  They did change several things performance-wise but it's continual process to make things work as best they can on a wide variety of systems.

They had better fix LR6 performance degradation as well then, since 7.0 is a paid upgrade. And I will *not* pay for bugs that should have been fixed years ago. Yes, years.

Lr 6 will not update from the Help menu.

All download links to v6.14 have disappeared from public access. (as at 12/12/2019)

The way to obtain older versions now is to contact Adobe Customer Care-

Or, if you purchased by a direct download from Adobe, you should find a download link with these instructions-

Having to contact customer care is a ridiculous waste of time for both Adobe and the Customer.  Adobe should provide an easily found link to V6.14.

Please, can someone help me with the file for converting LR 6 to 6.14?

I have changed computer, and downloaded LR 6 to my new one from Adobe. But I only got v. 6, not 6.14. Unfortunately it is now impossible to upload LR 6.14 from Adobe. I have spent the whole afternoon searching on the web trying to get hold of the file to upgrade.

Could someone please help me with the file? I can ́t use LR 6, I need the later version for the file format for my camera.

Thank you so much for your swift replies! I really appreciated your kindness to reach out a hand. But I read your good advice earlier on this web site and followed them. I made several attempts to contact costomer services, but unfortunately it was impossible, I was only directed to a site where they declared that they don ́t provide updates any more. And when I tried the second link, it seemed to be right but when I downloaded and tried to install the file it said that it was the CC version so I didn't dare to continue. I was then quite desperate and went for coffee. After the brake I suddenly remembered that I did update to 6.14 on another, older computer. Luckily the downloaded file was still there, so now I have succeded in getting 6.14 on my new computer. I am so glad it worked out at last!

For reference by future readers, to get a fresh install of LR 6.14 (perpetual license), you need to install the free trial of LR CC 2015.14 (subscription license) and then "serialize" it by entering your serial number. Details are explained here:
