Import to custom folder names

We used to be able to customise the folder structure used by LR during import by modifying TranslatedStrings.txt. As of a few releases back this seems no longer to work and we're left with what someone at Adobe thinks is a sensible way of organising files which does not match how my library looks.
Does anyone know how to customise the folder names for LR Classic? Alternatively is there a plugin that allows me to ingest files to a customisable folder structure on macOS?
Thanks,
Carl

I am still able to use custom folders for import while importing. My folders all have the same structure: day/month/year/subject. Once imported I can click on any folder on the left side in library module and change folder name... Hope this helps, not sure if I understand your question right...

I updated instructions for keyboard shortcuts using Translated Strings a while back when it changed - same principles should apply to the folder name tweaks. https://www.lightroomqueen.com/custom-keyboard-shortcuts/

Thank you Victoria! You are my hero! The instructions work beautifully also for the import folder name settings. This saves me _a lot_ of time.

Found another workaround by exporting a preset and manually editing that: https://blog.pardner.com/2014/12/create-a-lightroom-5-custom-import-preset-to-organize-photos-into-y...
