I ask this on behalf of the community. When will adobe fix the overall DOG SLOWNESS
When is Adobe going to develop a new version of Lightroom that is not laggy, pathetically slow and garbage? I have been dealing with extreme slowness now ever since Lightroom CC hit the scene.
Do Adobe realise how many hours i lose when editing thousands upon thousands of photos and have the program lag all the time?
Every time you release a new version addressing "slowness" and that you have apparently fixed the "slowness", i never see a single change.
I own the fastest, best iMac you can get. I have a late 2015 iMac 5k specced as high as it can go.. it was around $5500.
I also own a 12 core xeon chip PC with 128GB ram that cost $8500.
On both of these machines Lightroom still lags to high hell. Don't even start with "troubleshooting". It is your software.
Photoshop is magical fast now. Why can't you make Lightroom the same?
The community is tired of sub par updates and excuses.

If you're willing to change how you use LR, not writing your changes into XMP files speeds things up a lot. Night and day really. I do write the changes, because my system is good enough now with the SSDs. But I used to turn off the auto feature and do the "save metadata to files" as an overnight process. Not perfect, but it worked fine.
I also optimize the catalog every hour.
So you know: I have about 4tb of photos on the internal SSDs and another 2TB on an external LaCie thunderbolt drive, and I do a LOT of face recognition and spend a lot of time in the develop module. My system slows considerably if I have to go to the external drive, but those photos aren't used so much, so it's not a huge concern.
I agree: LR is a monster. But, I have no suggestions on how it could be made tighter or speedier, so I just adjust my hardware and work style, because I need it and so I do what I must.

Sometimes i think they just dont want to support anymore..
and now some guys will appear and tell everyone how fast it runs on their machines. "just put the cache, catalog and files on different harddrives" , "use ssd's", "dont apply noise correction", "enlarge the cache size", "reinstall your windows", bla bla bla....
i dont know what files they are handling but with 30mpx+ and 2k+ screens its slow as shi**.
IT IS HORRIBLE,
if a switch to capture one would be easy i would be gone....but here i am...still hoping for some kind of statement...

So what to do now? I dont want to switch somewhere else but i dont know if Adobe is working on a solution, if they even see it as an issue, if the next version of LR will have the same issues and if there even will be a next version....
its so frustrating because these informations would be crucial for planing the future....
