How can I stop LR Classic from repeatedly crashing on High Sierra 10.13.2

I realize this is a very basic question but I just have to ask... have you updated to the latest version (7.1) of Lightroom? This issue was supposed to have been fixed with that release.

Please give your computer the "once over". Run Onyx (https://www.titanium-software.fr/en/o...), reboot. Run Disk Warrior (https://www.alsoft.com), reboot. Also try a “Safe Boot”, Shift Key down during startup. Does it crash? Also try it from your other (admin) account, as a test. Crashes? If it doesn't crash it may be something corrupted in your User Library. Check The Lightroom Queen site for instructions on how to reset your preferences.

I ran Onyx - although it just checked my startup disk, which was ok. Also had them empty some cache. It didn't seem to want to do anything else. In any event, after reboot, LR Classic runs much more smoothly. I didn't do the DiskWarrior thing yet, because it's a $119 purchase, and there are some hoops to go through since my MacBook pro originally came with much earlier software version.

Sorry, I should’ve mentioned just run everything in the Automation tab.

I hit the automation tab and the beach ball twirled for over half an hour, then had to force it to quit and restart. LR Classic back to its old ways, and btw my external hard drive with my images is frequently ejected spontaneously by my Mac. How helpful and vital do you think DiskWarrior is? Is there anything close? I hate to spend 119 dollars for no benefit. Thanks.

I’ve saved hundreds of drives with Disk Warrior, but directory damage may NOT be your issue. Try Onyx again, but before LOG IN WITH ANOTHER ACCOUNT. If you don’t have an “Admin” account, create one with admin privileges and use it to test Lightroom! If everything is cool, reboot to your account and follow the instructions on https://www.lightroomqueen.com to delete your LR prefs. Also, is “use graphics card” off? Try that too.

In preferences, there is a "Use Graphics Processor" which is checked. There is no "Use Graphics Card." Or is this to be found somewhere else?

Yeah, that’s the preference I was referring to. Turn it off see what happens. If that doesn’t work, try the other stuff I suggested.

Well, things are still touchy. Today trying to export a picture to my desktop, LR Classic hung up and I had to force quit it. I have noticed recently that whenever I start my computer, Avasti Security gives me a message: "Internal error has occurred. See system log for details). As it turns out there are numerous error messages in system log. These are a few from today. Do these indicate a need for DiskWarrior? Thanks for your help.
