Email via Lightroom ONLY

When sending an image via email from Lightroom 4 I would prefer that Lightroom handle the entire process and not launch the desktop email application. To that end I would like to be able to enter and format text within the Lightroom dialog, just as I can if I use a web based email service.

Having done this in the past, I know that no one, including Adobe, wants to get into the business of creating yet another RFC 2821 mail user agent. It is a thankless job that will literally eat resources and provide very little user value.

The best solution is to set up a Gmail account and send /from/ that. This does not use a local MUA, and just uses the remote server to send the mail.

I suspected as much but the gmail route has issues when sending to Apple @mac.com addresses.

If Gmail is not sending a delivery failed message back to the sending address, then there is some sort of failure at the receiving end. I doubt this is a general problem with how Lightroom is providing the email information, and the usual sort of problems with email.

Remember: there is absolutely no quality of service guarantee with email. It generally works, but there is never guarantee it will arrive in a timely manner, and sometimes at all.

I think this may be a problem that could be remedied by a change in Lightroom code (assuming it's not a "David Rogers special" problem...).

Well, I doubt I'll be changing any code any time soon but I also dont think its a "special" problem. The emails are not making it to at least two other dotmac addresses.
So, on the one hand we dont have full ability to compose an email, while on the other we dont have complete reliability.

An unreliable feature as it is right now.

Consider making this a bug report, since the titled feature will not likely happen, but the bug should probably be fixed.

So, if they make it to most other email addresses, isn't this an Apple issue?

I dunno really - perhaps we should take this up in the problem thread instead:
