Editing DNGs in NAS goes out of sync

Hi

if I modify in Lightroom a DNG file that's stored on a network drive, I constantly get errors about the file being modified outside of Lightroom. The issue only happens with DNGs and JPEGs. Raw files (Nikon's NEF format) work just fine.

I wrote an elaborate explanation here:
https://forums.adobe.com/message/10464267

Since I got no reply, I'm assuming that there is no known solution or workaround the problem.

I can help debug the issue if need be, just keep in mind I do have daytime job, so, may not be immediately available.

Error?
It's to be expected that both JPEGs and DNG's would be modified after edits in LR if you have Auto Save XMP on, which saves data (edits and so forth) inside both containers. Is that what you mean? With your proprietary raws, they are not touched but instead, sidecar files are updated. Adobe treats proprietary raws as read only. Not the case with DNG, TIFF, JPEG etc.

Hey Andrew
Sorry, that's not what I mean.
If you take a look at the link I pasted you'll be able to see more clearly.

The issue doesn't happen if the file is stored locally, only on files on a NAS.

The NAS might be doing some type of internal backup and if it is a RAID box it is making a duplicate (Backup) of the file on one of the other drives in the NAS/RAID box and might be writing something to the file to mark it as being backed up, duplicated. That might be what LR is seeing as the file being changed.
