Constant Crashing, non-linear imports, etc...

So LR Classic CC has crashed on me, oh, at least 20 times. Importing is weird, slow, inconsistent, and non-linear. We used to be able to edit photos as we imported. Now we're afraid to touch LR during import for fear of crashing.

This sucks. It feels like the software is still in Beta testing after 10 years and is actually getting worse.

When will the devs just fire themselves and let a new team of worthwhile software devs take over this sinking ship?

It is working with no issues for me on Mac 10.12.6 and on Windows 10, jbedford.

You may have a different issue that is causing your particular issues.  Can you post some system details so that we can look for the potential problems?

OS?
Version?
GPU?
Driver Version?
Operations which cause crash?

Rikk, I've 100K catalog on Windows 10 latest update. I've got an i7 4770k, 32gb ram, gtx 1070 w/ latest drivers.

The crashes happen when the system is creating previews and I attempt to develop something (used to be a stable multi-task), when importing and attempting to develop something.

Thanks for your help, but 10 years of paying Adobe to beta-test its software is making me furious.

Sorry you are having trouble but I have a larger catalog and a very similarly spec'd system (GTX 970 instead of a 1070) and in 30 days of intense use, 6-8 hours per day, I've yet to see a crash. I still suspect you have a system issue/driver problem.  If this were wide spread, you would see many more reports and furious 'beta' testers.

Hmmm. I’m also using it 7-9 hours per day. The problems seem to resolve with a restart. I have no other issues with other Adobe software or other software so I don’t think it’s a driver issue.

Sorry if you think I’m being over-dramatic calling this software ‘beta’, but ever other piece of Adobe software works well, except this one.

I have the same problem with importing and posted details in this thread:
https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lr-classic-problem-with-previews-during-impor...
It seems to only affect my very large master catalog and not ones with very few photos? (on Windows 7 and 10)

Also had a few crashes so far but may have traced those to a driver problem with my Wacom tablet?, no crashes since updating that driver.

Edit: the crashes have been while in develop mode not while importing. The importing does go very slow though and previews do not show until late in the import process

Yes, Bruce, my catalog is enormous, too. My 2017 wedding catalog is culled but is still just a hair over 100K images.

Rikk, there's many issues users are experiencing that I'm sure you're not getting either. Don't know what to tell you, but the crashes are real. I've submitted over a dozen crash reports if you want to check them out. I'm sure the details of each are recorded within.

jbedford,

I do not doubt that the crashes are real.  What I doubt is they are the result of a clandestine agenda to perpetrate a beta on an unknowing public. I would be happy to look at a crash report if you would like to forward one to me.

Hi Rikk, you are probably right about there not being a clandestine agenda, we should remember Hanlon's Razor
