Add photo to target collection - Which one ?

The current target collection is indicated by a "+" sign at the end of the collection name. Not always ideal if you have lots of collections with very long names, but certainly better than nothing.

 I'm aware of this, of course. But in order to see that + sign, you need to have the Collections panel opened. Moreover, the current target collection might be in a non opened subfolder. The main problem is not with collections having long names. It is that you are not always sure about which collection you have just added an image. To be sure, you have to discover which collection is the target collection and that can take time if you have many, especially if they're organized in subfolders.

Listing users being satisfied with "better than nothing" features is certainly not the purpose of this "Ideas" section :--) . I guess it's the place where we are invited to make suggestions that could make LR better (after fixing the long lasting bugs which should be a priority, of course).

Please consider that each time a developer or a project manager reads "better than nothing", he's not encouraged to do something about the discussed feature. "Good idea" or "bad idea" or suggesting an "even better idea" are certainly much more constructive comments.

Standing on my nerve! Why do software engineers and designers universally have a problem with providing specific information in "informational" messages, menus, tips...? Maybe they are trying to save bytes? Actually this aversion also applies to error messages. The typical error message seem to be "hey user you got an error in some piece of software or device, now try to guess what's wrong or just go to our community forums because its too hard for us to code this". 

When I don't remember what collection is set as target, I press "B" on a photo.
A message comes up saying something like "add to target collection "[name of collection]" "
If I don't want it there, I press "B" again and assign a new target collection

Also, I think it doesn't matter if you remember or find the target collection.
I guess you want a certain collection to be your target, no matter what the target was before.
And I like that you are now able to search for a collection name, so if I want to make "FB201809" my target collection, I just search for FB and assign it to the one I want.

Adding the name of the target collection would be nice, but (to me) not more than that.

This is a very useful suggestion and idea. Collections can be difficult to manage and this helps remove a level of uncertainty when adding images to a target collection.

For now you can use CTRL/CMD + B keys to see the target collection, change it if necessary, and use the same CTRL/CMD + B keys to return to the original source location.
