A search bug in Lightroom 5?

I believe I have discovered a bug in Adode Photoshop Lightroom 5. When I am using the Search function in the Library Module and I choose "Filename" and "Starts With," Lightroom treats it as a "contains" search instead. The attached file shows I was searching for "RR13 Kropp" (with a space between). But some of the thumbnails shown are for files called "RR13 Bill Keith Kropp..." Seems like Lightroom should have not shown the Bill Keith files when "Starts With" is chosen.

That's cause Lr interprets spaces as delimiters instead of data.

Seems weak to me, but it's been that way forever.

To get around, use SpaceUrchin or AnyFilter.

This was acknowledged as a bug by Adobe two years ago:

Another report on the same issue:

Thanks for the plugin suggestions. I would have thought Adobe would have addressed this seemingly basic function, especially since they have supposedly improved the search criteria in LR5. I guess it's easier to send out new features than to fix old bugs.

Adobe obviously won't listen to me, since they haven't listened to anyone else on this matter. But at least the good people here are attentive and have helped me. I appreciate that!

Thanks!
Steve

If it's any consolation, how Adobe sets priorities for Lr is a mystery to many of us.
