Transferring REVEL photos to CreativeCloud - Why can't you guys just do it?

Instead of the hassle of downloading everything from Revel, why can't you just transfer my stuff to CC? Have you given enough thought to the fact that one reason I have used Revel is to get all of this stuff off my computer, which is now older and probably can't handle the download?

Hi Bruce,

I can understand completely the frustration of losing Revel. I'm a user, too, and now have to go back to storing my images on an external portable hard drive. Which is something I highly recommend for you if your computer is older like mine was.

To answer your question, there are many reasons why Adobe can't automatically transfer your images to CC but one that is maybe most important is that the Creative Cloud Photography plan currently does not provide backup or storage of images or videos. What it does provide is the ability to sync photos across multiple devices so you can access them anytime, anywhere. There is a long-term plan to offer backup of original files in the cloud but it is not available at this time.

Kind regards,
Glenyse

Hi Glenyse,

Even though for viewing and sharing purposes I don't really like LIghtroom's (however great it is at editing) cluttered and bloated interface on OSX or iOS, compared to Revel's simplicity, it would have been good to sync the files over, although understand that CC doesn't support storage yet.

The point is though, why has Revel been closed before it does? Methinks Adobe does not want our business. And even if and when they do it's going to be over double the price per annum.

I have emailed the two senior managers mentioned in the Macworld article about the closure and told that learnings would be taken from Revel. Although it will probably be 'don't offer Cloud Storage that cheap again' rather than 'let's have sharing libraries and copy Revel's UI'.

Hi Selondon,

Thanks for you thoughts on this. It's actually great to have such passionate users. We will all miss Revel and everything it offered.

Best regards,
Glenyse
