Bugs with entering "<" in posts

The new platform has problems with entering "<" in posts. Here's a screenshot of text I will enter:

and here's what happens when I enter that text:

exiftool "-gpsaltitude

Everything after the "<" is dropped. Using the {;} button to insert code samples has the same bug.  Here's a screenshot of what I'm about to do:

And here's how it comes out:

exiftool "-gpsaltitude

I've asked the platform to look into this John.

John,

The platform team has asked you to test by adding a space after the
"<"

Using a space after "< " was the workaround we had to do to enter the Exiftool command line.  (But it makes the Exiftool command line syntactically incorrect.)

Having a letter after it

...doesn't work (e.g. remove the space here: < x).

Test  text: exiftool gpslatitude<xmp:gpsaltitude

Test code:

exiftool gpsaltitude<xmp:gpsaltitude
