Resolution problems with LR5

I have been experiencing the same softness with my images in LR5 as others have been reporting. There is a significant amount of it while using the Slideshow Module, regardless of how it is set up. I also see it to a lesser degree when changing from Library to Develop Modules. Other software does not have this problem. LR5 is very "old" I know but, I still pay for it coupled with Photoshop, which I rarely use...I would like to think Adobe could address this issue without nudging me toward an upgrade to a different lightroom plan??
