Photoshop CC: Can't cancel background saves

Why doesn't command . stop a saving file like it used to? Equally disturbing is the cancel button on the save progress bar doesn't work either. I just mistakenly flattened a layered file and midway through it saving I tried to click cancel and then command . to stop the save. The saving continued on ignoring any of my commands.

Which product are you using?
If Photoshop, then background save can't be stopped by a key command, and needs a click on the background save progress -- because it is happening in the background while other things happen in the foreground.

I'm using CC and I do have the background saving option checked in the preferences. So help me understand, I need to click where exactly to cancel the saving?

In X, in the progress bar that shows in the bottom left of your document window.

Here's a screen clipping of the bottom left hand portion of my screen for the next guy. This tidbit of knowledge kept me from saving a 223G file. Whoops! Thanks for the info Chris.

I'd say that you're frozen in a bad way and will likely have to force quit and cross fingers that background save has saved you. It's hard to imagine you could possibly have created a file so large it would take 24 hours to save, as I'm sure you've already guessed. It's always awful when that happens. :-(

Hahahahaha I found a work around. Turn off BKG saving. Move all your assets to a new PSD and save the new PSD file, voilà! This was a huge save for my files...bam take that photosphop....
