Lightroom: Book Module 'Export to JPEG' does not apply sharpening
I'm running LR4.1 on Windows 7 64 bit with 5D MK ii raw images and just discovered the Book module 'Export Book to JPEG' produces files that do not have output sharpening applied.
Example Book Settings:
Book = JPEG
Size = Standard Landscape
Cover = Hardcover Image Wrap
JPEG Quality = 90
File Resolution = 300 ppi
Sharpening = (Every setting produces the same results)
Media Type = (Every setting produces the same results)
When selecting 'Book = PDF' the sharpening is very obvious and is applied as expected based on the Sharpening setting:
Glossy Low = least sharpening
Matte High = most sharpening
The ‘Export Book to JPEG’ should have output sharpening applied the same as ‘Export Book to PDF.

Looks like I have to have even longer before Lightroom reaches the stage where I bother to purchase it.....

I use InDesign CS6 with the Blurb plugin, and only checked the Book module JPEG output to compare the image sharpening used in it. Personally I have very few issues with LR4 and love PV2012, but there's a similar sharpening/resample issue in the Slideshow module that's been around since v1.0. Maybe Adobe will finally fix both of them.

I created a one-page book with black background and Exported to PDF and JPEG with the following settings:
I then opened both the JPEG and PDF images using PS CS6 and less sharpening is being applied to the JPEG image. They should be identical.

I also compared the Book module Export to JPEG image to the standard LR Export module (Export One File) output using the same settings and image sizes. The Book module JPEG has much less sharpening applied.
