Elements 14: Photomerge panorama aborts with error 8800.

This bug has already been reported twice in the Elements forum:

I had no problem until recently. I assumed it was due to the fact that I have also Photoshop CC installed. (Sending the files to CC from the organizer for a CC ̈Photomerge works fine).

I don't know if it's related, but I did update Photoshop CC this morning, and the above error no longer appears.

I have the same issue Photo merge panorama aborts with error 8800 ,I have just purchases 14 and its becoming a bit of a pain ,any help welcome. I cannot seem to add more than one photo to photo merge either ? even if I have 2 or more in the photo bit it just opens 1 photo ? any help welcome :(

yes it was updated to 14.1 when I installed, I updated straight away. What I don't understand is why Photo merge has been changed at all as it worked perfectly before now its just clunky to me ,and not user friendly. When I managed to get it to do one last night, it still will not let me reposition any as the old version did , if it cannot merge instantly in gives up and returns to the edit page .Its very confusing for a simple process. The error 8800 just appears randomly after 20 tries to merge I gave up last night, and am wondering whether to revert back to the 11 version. I use windows 7 .

Hi, Andaleeb,
As mentioned in my answer, the problem disappeared from Elements14 after I upgraded my CC Photoshop plan. Since I have found the same 8800 error mentioned in the Photoshop forums (I did not bookmark those posts..) I believe the root of the problem in not in the choice of pictures to merge, it's linked to installation updates, like the persistent impossibility to solve the update of Elements 13 to 13.1 without uninstalling all softwares, cleaning the registry and reinstalling in correct order.
It would be interesting to know if users with the 8800 message also have other softwares than Elements, and the history of their updates.

I have the same unresolved error. I have used previous versions and never had this problem. It seems as though my best recourse is to go back to elements 11. Poor show from Adobe and there seems to be no way to contact technical support, if it exists...

OK I cant seem to be able to use the Photomerge - Panorama. Everytime I do I get the following error. 



However if I use a different product like Arcsoft it has no problems with the photos (5 year old software). I have tried several types of photo from different cameras and I keep on getting this.

Any ideas from anybody?

Or do I need to submit a bug report and if so how do you do this!

Hi Lukas,

Can you please try resetting Editor Preferences once and see if the issue is resolved? You may do so by going to Edit > Preferences > Reset Preferences on next launch button.
If this doesn't resolve your issue, please share with me some of the test files over mail (afatima@adobe.com) along with information of Panorama type and checkboxes ticked.

OK so I've reset and it initially didn't work. Just using "Auto Panorama" and "Blend Images Together". 

So I've change some of the options and it started to work. However I get mixed results. Sometimes it will still crash! But if I'm persistent and change the setting it seems to come good. 

However is be no way a valid solution. If there is a bug in the software or an invalid installation issue there has to be a way to make it work all of the time!
