Raw Data Histogram Display - Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw

The current Histogram display in Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw accurately display the file image data for JPEG, PNG, PSD, TIFF file types, but not for raw files.

When a raw file is demosaiced and a camera profile applied it is no longer possible to determine the actual R-G-B-G2 raw data clipping levels. This is useful for determining best exposure settings (ETTR) when shooting tethered, evaluating exposure bracketed images, or for simply determining your camera's exposure metering accuracy.

This can be added as a user-selectable option button in the current Histogram to allow viewing of the camera file's R-G-B-G2 raw data values.

I'd also want to see the raw pixels.

I use RawDigger for this sort of information, but it is less convenient than seeing it in LR.

that will be contrary to ACR/LR concept, so I bet it is not going to be implemented even close (start asking for graduated scales in histogram for example)... so rawdigger (or a forthcoming FRV from the same authors) is the way to go, like it or not... even w/ UniWB settings in camera and specifically trimmed/adusted (matrices/curve/exposure corrections) .dcp profile it is quite useless because of the way how ACR/LR work and display image/histogram

It's the same analogy as looking at a film negative and raw files are considered digital negatives (DNG) correct?

I'm not sure what you mean by "quite useless" since you agree that RawDigger or FRV is the way to go. RawTherapee raw processor already offers this capability and I'm sure Adobe could easily add this capability to LR and ACR. See pg. 17 in the RawTherapee 4 User Manual here:

"To the right, at the top, is the histogram panel. It can show the histograms of the red (R), green (G), blue (B) and CIELab Luminance (L) channels of the photo as it would look if you saved it, or it can show you the histogram of the raw file before any transformations such as demosaicing are applied to it."

If and when camera manufacturers offer the same capability in-camera (i.e. UniWB) it would still be very useful inside LR and ACR. Most of us don't stop and look at the camera histogram after every shot and in many cases it's impossible (action photography).

then you just need to compare what RD for example (and how) displays vs what is presented in ACR (w/ such profile,that to the max extent possible neutralize color transform from scene ref'd data)

I have no idea what you mean by "neutralize color transform from scene ref'd data."

I am requesting that Adobe provide the ability to view the actual raw data in the Lightroom and ACR Histogram panel. I don't care what the Loupe image looks like. The preview image could be in BW, but it should display the raw data highlight and shadow clipping indicators same as in RawDigger, etc. That's all I'm interested in identifying–Raw pixels that are clipped.
