Photography: Raw File Support - Requests and Information?

I just got a new camera and Camera Raw and/or Lightroom does not recognize the raw files, has no camera-specific profiles or has some features not enabled. What do I do?

There's always a possibility the final version will have support.

Eric,
I'm hoping that's the case. Otherwise I'll just burst! I've spent over 6k upgrading equipment and software this month and it ain't over yet...

When will the geniuses at Adobe have a PS plug-in available for raw files from Canon's 5D Mark III?

There already is support with ACR6.7RC and Lr4.1RC on Adobe labs. If your version of Photoshop cannot take ACR6.7 then use the DNG Converter that comes with the 6.7 d/l and convert the files to DNG.

For the 5d Mark TWO, yes. But for the Mark THREE? There's no sign of it that I've found on Adobe's list of plug-ins.

Steve, thanks for the link, albeit to a "Release Candidate," which I assume is sort of like a Beta version: " . . . well tested," as Adobe says, "but would benefit from additional community testing before it is distributed automatically to all of our customers."
A call to help them find the bugs?

I cannot use the files from my new camera with any of the software I own.
Please add the RAW files from the Fuji X-Pro 1 to the supported files for Camera RAW and Lightroom.

Will there be an update which supports Sony NEX-VG20 soon? Lightroom is useless if I can't open my raw-files.

I recently bought the canon EOS 5D Mark lll. My Photoshop CS4 suite can not read the RAW photos and display. What do I need to do to be able to see my photos and work on them? gmvphoto@gmail.com

You need the free standalone DNG Converter 6.7 RC, available here:

http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/camer...

It's the second download on the above page.

It can process the 5D Mark III raw files (.CR2) into DNG files, which can then be read in CS4.

Gladys,

You have three options at this point:

1. Purchase Lightroom 4. Support for the 5DMKIII is in the 4.1RC and ACR 6.7RC
2. Wait for and upgrade to PS CS6
3. Use the Free DNG converter to make your files readable.

CS4 will very likely never be retrofitted to read your files.

Photoshop CS6 is not supporting RAW file from Canon 5D Mark III, same issues as you guys have fixed in CS5 and now again in C6. That is really bad

I truly believe this time it is an Adobe issue, you guys demonstrated in CS5 that you could fix it. What is a point of releasing a CS6 with the same old issues. Getting confused

Don't worry, the next update to Camera Raw 7 will be able to directly process the .CR2 raw files from the 5D Mark III.

(ACR 7.0 in the CS6 Public Beta does not process the 5D III files, as we had to finish engineering work for ACR 7.0 long before the 5D III was released, or even announced.)

In the meantime, you can simply download the free standalone DNG Converter 6.7 RC, available here:

http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/camer...

It's the second download on the above page.

It can process the 5D Mark III raw files (.CR2) into DNG files, which can then be read in the current Camera Raw 7.0 of CS6 Public Beta.

Thanks Eric, that will help for time being. CS6 is almost in front of the door :-)
Will be using the converter to experiment with the new Beta CS6

The real issue too is, there is no thumb previews before downloading of RAW on my Apple MAC Lion OSX 10.73. I'm grateful for Adobe for working out the bugs but I suppose I'm frustrated with everything I've upgraded and it just slowed me down. I've upgraded everything and now photography is a real drag on the workflow scene man! Can't wait for the new RAW 7....
