Lightroom/Camera Raw: Where do ACR 4.X profiles come from?

I've been able to find dcp files for Adobe Standard and all the camera emulations as well as user added profiles, but the ACR 4.X files remain a mystery. Where in the world are they?

I believe they are matrix profiles, they are embedded and cannot be edited like DNG profiles.

Final question: Are there any other "matrix" profiles or do all of them start with 'ACR 4.'.

I ask because I'm trying to complete a profile validation feature of a plugin, and I don't want to miss any.

My first Canon DSLR camera has ACR 2.5 (or maybe 2.7) and ACR 4.4 profiles along with the standard DNG Profiles. If there is more than one then it is the vintage of ACR when the camera was first supported and any intervening profile corrections before ACR 4.4 improved on all of them. Basically you need to support all profiles back to the first version of ACR that supported RAWs.

Thanks Steve - The profile validator is nearly complete. FWIW, I also discovered the "beta" profiles seem to have names that do not match any dcp files on disk.

The beta profiles were available for download from Adobe Labs, and the last beta version still is, next to the link to download the latest DNG Profile Editor.

If I had any references set to use the beta profiles I'd want them upgrade to the non-beta version.

Does your plug-in create collections of images or otherwise allow filtering them by each of the missing profiles so it's easy to assign a new profile to them?

Thanks Steve.

AdvancedColorEditor
now includes a 'Validate Profiles' feature.

One way to convert beta profiles to non-beta - select a different profile, then reselect the original again. To isolate all photos having a particular profile, just click the profile in the library filter, 'Camera Profile' column (requires DevMeta). - hot tip: copy into a dumb collection before re-assigning profile so they don't disappear before you're done with them!

PS - I was surprised at how many profile snafus I had in my catalog. Now zero :-)
