Lightroom/Camera Raw: HEIF file format:

HEIF FILE FORMAT: Please make sure to get file support ready asap, the new Canon 1DX 3 will be pumping out 1000's of .heif files by the Olympics!

HEIF is currently supported for Import in Lightroom.

Wrong. Lightroom does not convert any image type.

HEIF files (from iPhone for example) are imported as HEIF

No, they can't be exported as (edited) HEIF. Just like you can't export raw files as (edited) raw. When you export images you have the same choice in file formats as with any other imported image.

Which is exactly what I'm asking for, the option to save into heif format.
Browsers now have the option to open heif files so why not be able to take advantage of the smaller (lossless) file size of the heif in our daily use going forward?

Well, I just did a job with my wonderful new R6, came back and the new .HIF format is not taking kindly to LR CC version 3.4 

 

What do I do now?
