Lightroom/Camera Raw: Canon G1X mark 3 displays artifacts

When opened in Lightroom or Photoshop CC, some RAW files from the Canon G1X iii display with black or distorted borders. Does not happen when these files are opened in other RAW conversion tools. Only occurs at certain focal lengths. See https://forums.adobe.com/message/1009...

Hi guys, could you post an example raw file that exhibits this problem? (url to dropbox or Creative Cloud share)

Thanks. I'm seeing a perfect black strip across the top and what looks like pixel extension on the right edge. I will have the Camera Raw team look into it.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Problems with RAW Converter and Canon G1X Mark III.

99jon
told me to post my problem here; the original thread with his advice
you can find here.
Sorry for my bad English; I hope you can understand me.

I
have a few days a Canon G1X Mark III. If I import the images from
this camera into Lightroom CC without using any presets, the image
will change anyway; strange lines appear on the left edge, on the
upper edge there is a black edge and also the right edge changes. I
have tried it on two different computers with Lightroom installations
and there is the same problem on both PCs.

This is
the original
image out of cam
 (it
is a CR2 file and stupidly can not be displayed here), so the link to
the image. You can download the original file
here: https://www.ditzumblog.de/diverses/2018/out-of-cam.CR2

This
is the result after I imported the image without presets into
Lightroom and export without editing as JPEG. You can see the black
bar above; the lines on the left edge are best seen near the trees;
you can download the file out of lightroom without
editing:

https://www.ditzumblog.de/diverses/2018/out-of-lightroom-ohne-bearbeitung.jpg

When
I open the CR2-file in Photoshop, I have the same problem. If I
open the CR2-file in the Canon DPP Software, there is no problem.

99jon  tried
using the stand alone DNG converter and the same problems are
apparent. So he told me to post my problem here and provide you with
the link to the CR2-file as I did above.

I
would be very grateful for help.

Hi,

thanks Adobe team for repairing the problem with edges after convertion from cr2 to dng by DNG Converter 10.2. DNG Converter 10.3. does not have this problem. But the converted picture is shifted by a few pictures. The count of the pictures depends on the zoom, I think. Is it right? Can somebody explain it? I have tried it on cr2 made by Canon Mark 5D III, where convertion is without shifting.

Maybe it is caused by lens correction, because the shifting is from the picture center to the edges.

Daniel.
