Lightroom Classic: No x3f support

Bought a Sigma DP2 Merrill, which creates raw files as "X3F." According to this guide, they should be supported: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html

I'm unable to import the files into any Adobe program so far, tried with latest Lightroom Classic, Lightroom CC, and Lightroom web. All of them give an "Error - Unsupported File Type" on import.

In this thread, it looks like other users are also facing a similar problem: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic/how-to-import-x3f-file-into-lightroom/m-p/11099769?page=2

You can download a sample file here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jkP4ePEz4mEt1qt7bQckacalsgRh44vs/view?usp=sharing . It works with Sigma's app (Sigma Photo Pro), so it is not corrupt, but can't be used by Adobe.

Hi Michael:

I'm not familiar with Signa files, but do you convert them to DNGs on the way in?

Hi Miguel, unfortunately that operation is not supported either. I get the same error trying to convert them to DNG in both Lightroom and using Camera Raw

I downloaded that image and cannot open it either getting the same error.
Are there any options on that camera for how it creates such a data file? The document you've uploaded has not be opened first in the Sigma Photo Pro software?

I assume the DP2 Merrill is a later carient of the DP2 - it seems that it is not supported.

The DP2 is listed as supported on the URL first posted.

I was able to open this in ON1 Photo Raw. What's ODD is it has the icon after download from this product. Michael, do you have that product and did you happen to try using it?
I can try other non Adobe raw converters too. It's odd it doesn't open since we are told it's supported.

RawDigger can't open this raw either:
Cannot open file /Users/thedigitaldog/Desktop/DP2M0282.on1: Unsupported file format or not RAW file
So it's not just Adobe.....

Brian, that might actually explain it if x3f files from the DP2 Merrill are treated differently from the ones in DP2. That would be too bad if Adobe has no support, but looks like that's the case.

Andrew, thanks for the suggestion! I haven't tried ON1, but might have to switch to that instead of lightroom if it can work with them. The Sigma Photo Pro app is okay, but can only convert the files to TIF / JPG and has a pretty poor interface.

It's really ODD that On1 2019 can open it, but not Adobe or RawDigger.
Iridient Develop can also open this document.
I am at a loss how some  products can open it, other's can't especially since Adobe states they can.
How old is this camera?
