Lightroom Classic: Many metadata fields in CR3 files not imported
[Update: LR 7.3.1 doesn't import a number a metadata fields from .CR3 files that are read from other raw formats, including the GPS fields, XMP:Rating, XMP:Title, EXIF:ImageDescription, EXIF:UserComment. See below for more details.

Dear community,
I own a new Canon EOS M50 and took a lot of GPS tagged pictures in my last holiday. Lightroom is importing the CR3 files without any problems, but I miss the GPS position. If I look to the files with the tool of Canon I see, that the position where the picture was taken, is inside of the file. Even if I export the pic to a jpg and import it then to Lightroom I have the position - but I like to have the raw file.
So far I found no way to display the position in combination with the CR3 file. I could put it in manually for each file, but therefor these are to many.
I already double-checked the import parameters and no preset was applied, so I guess this is obviously still an issue of the cr3 implementation in the camera raw module.
Here a link to an example file: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AtdqMJFRUFadgrYafe8Xh8oe1NJ5fg
Maybe somebody has an idea or workaround... At least it should be known and be fixed in a future release.
Thanks and regards
Andreas

Lightroom Classic 7.4 was released today and should address the issue of GPS data not being imported. Please update your Lightroom to the latest version and let us know if you continue to see the issue. Thank you for your patience.
We are still looking into the issues for other fields.
Thanks,
Smit Keniya

La conversion en .DNG ne change rien !
I tested this file on LRClassic on Mac, same observation, the GPS field dnas the meta-data of LR Classic are not resumed ... so it misses this information in the reading script of .CR3.
The conversion to .DNG does not change anything!

I am able to reproduce the issue of GPS data not being imported with CR3 file and I have logged a bug for the same.
Thanks,

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled RATING in CR3 file format does not visible in LR CC.Dear community,
I own a new Canon EOS M50, Lightroom is importing the CR3 files without any problems, but I miss the stars rating, before indicated direcly on camera. If I look to the files with the DPP4 tool of Canon I see them, but none rating indication is visible on LR CC.
Here a link to an example file with rating 5 stars in camera:

I think that is a bug of LR CC. Maybe somebody has an idea or workaround... At least it should be known and be fixed in a future release.
Thanks in advance & Kind Regards,
Simone

XMP:Rating, XMP:Title, EXIF:ImageDescription, EXIF:UserComment
LR does import these fields from CR2 files. Most likely this bug is related to the fact that CR3 uses the ISO Base Media File Format rather than the TIFF format used by most raw files.

I was able to reproduce Rating, Title, Description and UserComment not getting imported for CR3 files. Thanks again for the file. I have logged the bug for this.
Thanks,
Smit

Hello,
I am not a tech savvy person and desperately need some help. I have quite a few presets/actions I have purchased over the years from VSCO and others which I have used to edit my photos in Lightroom. They worked great with my CR2 files however recently I purchased the Canon R5 and all the presets look terrible and/or don't work. The colors are off, so is contrast, etc...What am I missing. I was told by someone to set the profile to Adobe Standard V2 but I can't seem to find it. Any help would be much appreciated.
