Force Photoshop to work in the background? (Mac)

Does anyone know how I can stop Photoshop from bullying it's way to the foreground whenever I send it a RAW file to open? I really have better things to do with my time than sit staring at render bars in PS.

Thanks in advance.

Photoshop has been doing this for years now. I don't know how to make it stop acting like an obnoxious attention whore but I have found minimizing to the dock will keep it from constantly popping up and dominating other apps. This includes even when you're working in another app and next thing you Photoshop is in your face..."Hey, Photoshop here. Did someone call me? No? Hmm, thought I heard someone call me."

If you use Application Frame, just minimize to the dock to shut it up once and for all. Such an irritating app now. Used to love working with it.

Thanks @grauenwolfe. I'll give it a try. It's like working with a two-year-old child. "Daddy, watch me unpack these RAW files!"
