Camera Raw and Lightroom provide lens profiles for a wide array of lenses. Not every lens is currently profiled and of those profiled not all are profiled for all camera and file types. For example, there may be a profile for a particular lens and camera mount for the raw file but not for the JPEG. Normally profiles for JPEG are not supplied unless the camera does not apply a correction (e.g. iPhone, GoPro).
Lens correction for all Micro 4/3 (MFT) lenses and cameras, including Panasonic and Olympus cameras, and other cameras (including Fuji X, Leica Q, plus many point-and-shoot models from Canon) happens automatically without any interaction by the customer.
Note: You should not expect to find any profiles listed in the pop-up notes, because the corrections are always applied.
If you are unsure whether your lens is supported automatically refer to the "info" button/icon on the Lens Corrections tab.
If your lens is not on the supported lens list and is not one of those whose correction happens automatically, you can create your own profiles using the Adobe Lens Profile Creator. Download the Adobe Lens Profile Creator: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/digital-negative.html#resources
If you desire an Adobe-created Lens Profile, please make your request in the comments of this thread and be sure to include the full lens model/description and the camera mount you are desiring. ETAs for new lens profiles are not available.
Keep in mind that lens profiles cannot be made for tilt / shift lenses. There is no way to record the tilt or shift settings in the Exif data. For more information see this post:
I would like an Adobe-created Lens Profile for the LEICA SUMMILUX-C 50mm 1.4 Cine Lens (CW SONDEROPTIC)! The camera mount is SL/PL Mount from LEICA. Thank you in advance.
Rick Flohr - My post should NOT have been merged into this thread! My topic was about the availability of ALL profiles at ALL points in the process, not if a profile was available. This is NOT the place for that, nor was it a question! It was a complaint and program suggestion. I resent being considered as someone who didn't do research, or a person who didn't spend 3 hours on the phone with support trying to get an answer. Pease do not merge the next post about this. It is not for the community, it is for Adobe to correct a poor programing choice! If it isn't listed as a question, don't merge it into a 2 year old question that doesn't address the update that came out last month!
If you want to question that with me, google my name and my contact info will come up.
This is the definitive thread regarding missing profiles. The person responsible for Lens profiles monitors and responds to this thread and can provide you with additional information. I am sorry you resent your thread being merged here but it is the fastest way to get it in front of the people you need to see it.
If the behavior you mention regarding a regression in behavior in the ability of the slider to handle a range of distortions in non-raw files where no lens profile is available is indeed present, it will be best confirmed here by the engineer monitoring this thread.
Did you read it? Its not regarding any missing profiles. The program is set to use only default profiles if there is no meta/exif data available. That isn't "missing", its intentional programing issue.
Additionally, the this is not a regression of ability, it is the downright removal of it, when a profile is applied. Otherwise that slider is not at all available. This is because it was moved from Transform to Lens Correction.
This has increased my production time by a factor of 5. This has noting to do with missing profiles, profiles that are requested, or the like. In fact the profile I am using in this case is available when using a file with the EXIF/Meta intact. I had to get the raw file from my client to establish that, but that is the case.
This issue does not belong in a thread that the programer has for a low priority profile request issue. In fact, were I still in the support industry I would be sitting with the programmer to see if this issue was intentional or not and if so, why. If not, were they aware. If they were and they brought it to the attention of their director I would be sitting in their office asking for an explanation.
There are not a finite number of buckets to put issues in. Though they may seem similar on the surface you have to look at the whole picture. I have been looking at this picture since 7.3 came out and I didn't start the thread until today. What should that tell you?
I am sorry for your inconvenience. I have left your second rewritten thread intact and forwarded it to an engineer for an expedited answer to your question.
I am surprised that the Sony FE 24-70 / 2.8 GM is not selected for Lr classic cc. It would be great when you could add this lens. Do you know when we can expect the next update?
The Sony FE 24-70 F2.8 GM lens was first supported in Lightroom 6.5/Camera Raw 9.5. The profile only supports raw files, so please confirm you are not attempting to apply it to JPEG images.
They should already been released, I recently purchased the newer Sony 35 1.8 and it already has the profile, I don't get why adobe didn't update with these already...
I urgently need a LR profile for my Mavic 2 Pro drone which has a Hasselblad 1" camera sensor. Is one under development yet as this drone has been out for 2 years.
The Adobe Lens Profile Creator is still available and functional. Adobe removed the sharing functionality viathe Lens Profile Downloader which is a completely different software application.
Hi, when can I expect profiles/support for the new Sigma EF-M fit lenses, namely the: 16mm, 30mm & 56m f1.4 DC DN Contemporary lenses for Canon EF-M mount
A few issues I'm having around lens profiles:
- I don't see lens profiles for Leica L mount lenses.
- I don't see lens profiles for Panasonic L mount lenses.
- I have two Sigma L mount lens that gets misidentified as Sony mount versions. I have to manually change this on every photo.
I would really love to have a lens profile added for the 120-300mm AF-S NIKKOR f/2.8E FL ED SR VR Lens
A lens that expensive should really have the ability to be corrected to take full advantage of it. It has been quite a few months and the lack of it in the August release was really disappointing .
@Rikk I would like to see the lens profile for the Canon 16-35mm f2.8. It used to be there but no longer appears in the Lightroom CC lens correction dropdown when working with ".TIFF files. What happened? This list of Canon lenses has gotten very short for .TIFF. I am starting out with a ".CR2" file from a 5D Mark IV and importing it into LR CC.
Most lenses only have a raw file lens profile. So when you select a non-raw file (JPEG, TIFF) the list of available lens profiles will be much shorter. Below are the only Canon 16-35mm lens profiles that are available and none are non-raw. Why don't you apply the lens profile to the raw file BEFORE creating the TIFF file?
Hello All, beside to all my supported Canon-lenses I use a Tamron 16-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD on my Canon EOS 7D, especially for holidays with a lightweight camera-bag. Is there a matching lens-profile for Lightroom 6 / CC? In the list it seems to be supported, but in Lightroom there are only very few lens-profiles to choose. Thank you in advance for a short response ... ;-)
We have generally given priority to still camera lenses for ACR and Lightroom. If time and available resources permits, we may add profiles for Cine lenses in the future. Sorry I cannot be more specific than that.
The other option for you is to use the Adobe Lens Profile Creator to generate a custom profile for your lens(es).
This is great that still lenses are a priority! In that case, would you please add profiles for the following Leica M lenses: Noctilux 1/50 Summilux 1.4/35 Pre-Asph Summilux 1.4/50 Pre-Asph Summicron 2/35 Version 4 (7-element) Summicron 2/90 Pre-Asph Elmarit 2.8/24 ASPH
Tokina supplies us with lens profiles built from lens design data. I have requested a profile for the 24-70 and I'm hoping to make it available in a release later in the year.
Please add support for Walimex Pro/Samyang 7.5mm 1:3,5 CSC Fisheye Panasonic/Olympus MFT. You've added most of the MFT Samyang lenses in the last two updates but the 7.5 fisheye is still missing.
The DSLR version (Nikon, Canon, etc.) is on the backlog but I cannot guarantee if/when it will be available in a public release. In the meantime, you can use one of the mirrorless (e.g. Fujifilm, Sony, etc.) body versions of the profile. The vignette correction in the mirrorless profile may be less than optimal for a DSLR, but the distortion characteristics are the same regardless of mount.
I'm just wondering why there is no lens profile for the iPhone SE in Lightroom? It's the same camera as the 6S and there is a profile for the latter, but not for the SE.
For the moment, the only workaround is to manually select "Apple" in the list. The (back) camera is then detected as an iPhone 6S.
Hello, there does not seem to be a lens profile for this lens with the Nikon mount. The profile does exist for this lens with the Canon and Sigma mounts though. Any insight into this issue would be very greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Following up on our offline conversation (and for other interested folks), a quick note that this profile had some quality issues with the vignette corrections that we need additional time to address, so it will be delayed in the next immediate release.
In the meantime, the current Canon and SIGMA versions of this profile have the same correction data, so applying one or the other will apply the same distortion and vignette parameters.
Depending on which focal length/aperture setting the image was made with, the vignette corrections may need to be scaled back (issue I refer to above). That will be addressed when we officially release the Nikon version of this profile and with the Canon/SIGMA versions currently in the product.
Doing more architectural photography and broke out an old favorite lens, NIKON AF NIKKOR 18mm f/2.8. then noticed there is not lens profile in LR. Am using the 20mm f/2.8 profile. Any chance of getting the 18mm profile?
Since this lens was discontinued by Nikon, it will be difficult for us (Adobe) to source a copy to build a profile for. You can build your own custom profile using the Adobe Lens Profile Creator. There is a download link for this tool located on the following page.
Hi, Camera Raw & Lightroom should include a lens profile for the Ricoh LENS A16 24-85mm F3.5-5.5, but neither in LR 5.7.1 nor in CR 7.1 or CR 9.7 I can find the specific lens profile. Is it missing?
Yes, I know the list. But there is no appropriate "lcp" file in the "LensProfiles" folder on the harddisk. It looks like the list is not correct or the file is missing in the executable setup.
Uncheck the option to "Enable Profile Correction" and you will see that a "Built-in Lens Profile applied" banner at the bottom of the Lens Correction area.
As you have discovered, there is no external lens correction profile. The support listing appears to be a very old mistake (ACR 7.1).
Given that this camera system was discontinued, there are very few options for Adobe to acquire a unit and produce a profile. However, I will investigate whether this is possible and follow up as soon as possible.
There is also the option of you creating your own custom profile using the free Adobe Lens Profile Creator.
Support for the Canon EF 24-70mm f/4 L IS USM has been available since ACR 7.4/LR 4.4. Lens corrections profiles are only specific to supported mounts (in this case the EF/Canon EOS system), not the camera model. In other words, the current 24-70mm profile will work with the EOS 550D.
That's surprising. The image I've loaded in Lightroom 5.7.1 is not changed, if I select or unselect the option to use lens correction. Under /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles/1.0 the only available lens profile is "Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III (Canon EF 24-70mm f4L IS USM) - RAW.lcp" which seems to support RAW only. I'm using JPEG images instead...
The Adobe Lens Profile Downloader doesn't provide another lens profile.
Is there a different lens correction for RAW and JPEG?
Lens profiles in Lightroom and Camera Raw generally only support Raw files since JPEGs may already have lens corrections applied. If you want to try this profile with a JPEG image, you can make a copy of the profile and change the following property.
stCamera:CameraRawProfile="True"
TO
stCamera:CameraRawProfile="False"
Then copy the modified profile to the following location.
Thanks for your help. It seems to work now. I just checked my camera settings and internal lens correction is not activated. So doubled lens correction should not happen. I know that the results are not optimal, but sufficient for my purposes.
This issue got raised often. While this type of workaround could work to some extent, you would need to understand the rationale for Lr/ACR generally not allowing lens profiles built for raw files to be applied on JPEGs/TIFFs.
One of the reasons that lens profiles created for raw could be wrong for JPEG is that we don't know the processing history of JPEGs. The JPEGs could be cropped, scaled, transformed in tools like PS. JPEGs could even be cropped on camera via the custom aspect ratio setup. In other words, assumptions on the geometry/optics of JPEGs could be very wrong for a lens profiles built for raw.
The workaround cited above no longer appears to work. Or perhaps I am doing something wrong. Any suggestions would be helpful. The filepath has changed a bit, but I was able to locate the <Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles/1.0> folder. Within, there is a single file containing all of the lens profiles. I have edited the suggested line for the profiles that I wanted available for use on a JPEG image, restarted Lightroom (Classic, Build 201911291132..., Camera Raw 12.1), and yet the profile still does not appear. The lens profile I am attempting to apply is Rokinon 24mm f/2.0 for Nikon D750. The camera was fumbled onto JPEG for several photos. It is unbelievable that this has gone unaddressed for years now (judging by the length of this thread). Just show a warning and let me apply the profile to whatever I want!
Could we please get a lens profile for the Samyang (Rokinon) 12mm f2.8 ED AF IS NCS Fisheye for Canon EOS fullframe. I'm using ACR 9.6.1.631 which does have a profile for the Samyang 12mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS Fisheye, but it's for Canon EOS-M and distorts the image very badly if I use it.
