Camera Raw 12.4 Settings

I am batch editing images and with the new update I now need to click on the crop tool every time I want to crop each image open. Before, the crop tool was kept open as I tabbed through the images. Also when I use the adjustment brush. I used to be able to have a brush open, and then use it for each image I tabbed through. Now I need to choose that brush each time I want to use it on a new image.

Is there a way to change this, this is making batch editing MUCH more time consuming.

I'm working through about 400 images at the moment.

I've got the crop tool sussed; press "C" to select the tool - move the crop lines to where you want them - but DON'T PRESS ENTER. You can then move to subsequent images. When you've got the crop lines where you want them on the last image only then press enter.

The adjustment brush is a royal PITA; yep - the "darn" thing resets between each and every image. The ONLY compromise I've found that saves ANY time is to save each as a preset; I still have to pick the preset from the list every time, but at least it then configures all the sliders for that particular adjustment.

I feel your pain ... mostly in my right hand and index finger at the moment.

I think the local adjustments can be set to not reset, scroll to the bottom of the panel.  Good tip about the persistent cropping.

Thanks Ash - you just saved me 3 mice & a couple of hours work (and that's just in the last 10 minutes!)

@colin_southern But your workflow for image cropping works partially only. My images are 2:3 but I want to have 4:3 crop. I have to set it for image again and again and again! Horrible!

Someone told me here that it is design. Not design! This is a bug! Same as other things. My frustration is big.

I see what you mean.

I was able to quickly work around that by selecting all images first (Crtl+A) and then changing the crop ratio.

From there I was able to carry on per my original reply.

Hope this helps!

Sadly there is not currently a way of doing either of those.  12.3/4 ACR workflow is currently at least 30% slower than 12.2 was, I am remaining hopeful now that Adobe have had more feedback on the issues (rather than what felt like half-hearted lockdown playtime) there may be some logic put back.   I feel your pain!

Hi, i also have this issue and find the latest update on ACR to be painful. I note someone raised the other issue about the next button being missing and that was raised 3 months ago and still not resolved. How are we able to get these frustrations to the right people to be able to initiate a fix or at least to find out if its going to be resolved or not. Everytime i open the interface my heart just sinks!

I am with you guys, I just had the Update. I posted a long comment, but it was merged and closed like it didn't matter.

For me the biggest issue is, that I can't have a preview of the work I have done with the tools in the now very right side (which were before on top, left/middel), with crop, spot correction and the filters. You have set your settings, and then you can't turn them off and on again. There is just the option to delete your settings. This is not practical at all.

I am so sad.

@artsocks There are many who feel your pain. Knowing that others are in just as much pain is small consolation I know, but short of buying up all voting stock and taking over the directing of Adobe, we're all pretty much at their mercy. And when I checked my bank account just a few moments ago I was still a "few" dollars short.

Hopefully they'll come through on their promise to fix these usability issues.

IMO opinion a good place for them to start would be "how it was" ...
