Camera Raw 12.3: Crop and Zoom

In the new ACR 12.3, I have the following issues/concerns (well, I have more than this, but these are the new ones):
1. It appears that Ctrl-spacebar only zooms to one arbitrary zoom percentage and back. I had one smaller image where it zoomed from 44% to 100% and back, and a larger RAW image it zoomed from 23% to 400% and back. The ONLY way I can seem to do incremental zooms and get really close is to use the drop-down in lower left corner to select a magnification then pan over to the area I want to look at.
2. If you have a crop applied to an image, you used to be able to click "outside" of the image (in the gray area outside of full image) to clear the crop and start over. Now it appears you are forced to right-click and choose "reset crop."

These are kind of ridiculous changes/bugs.

I had the same problems as well. Win8.1 64 bit. The new cropping tool is "unruly" , difficult to work with.  I have changed back to the previous version of ACR.

I have the same problem the crop is unmanageable. I have tried to go back to the old version but it doesn't seem to work - how do i do that please? I'm editing hundreds of images and the crop is slowing me down twofold.

Examine the preferences for Zoom and Pan. You probably want the check box OFF.
When in crop, you can toggle from seeing the entire image to a zoom ratio you desire other than 100%, at least I can on Mac. Zoom to something other than 100%. For example, I can use the dropdown menu in lower left to pick 1600%. Then with the key commands, I can toggle to seeing the entire image (which of course differs depending on the size of the UI) to 1600% and notice the check box for Global Zoom Level. Now I can toggle between those two every time with the key commands.

Now that I have solved my external display problem (by purchasing a new monitor) and can actually use the new ACR for a shoot edit, I can more concretely state the following opinions and observations:
  1. The updated Zoom behavior is growing on me.
  2. I really don't like having the tools on the far right instead of the top of the window.
  3. I still can't stand the changed Crop behaviors, including the fact that now the Crop settings (ratio, etc) are in a separate drop-down instead of just being part of the tool button.
  4. I'm noticing that the Adjustment Brush defaults back to the last preset that I have in my preset list EVERY TIME I change images. So if I am using the same preset on multiple loaded images, I have to re-select the preset for each image. This is TERRIBLY inefficient. The Adjustment Brush should (at least as an option) keep the last-used preset active.

The fourth one I had the exact same problem with, it was driving med NUTS. But I found the solution, if you scroll all the way down there is a box called "Auto reset sliders" - uncheck that and your settings will stay the same when changing image. :)
