Too Much Vacuumed Up By Bridge

Is there a way to have Bridge only gather in .jpg or .tif or other photo material and not what appears to be everything on my hard drive.  Mac OS, Bridge 2019

Others here have more experience with catalog and Bridge than me.  But first, take an inventory of those file formats.  Most of them are probably those.

Bridge, unlike a catalog, doesn't gather anything in. It's just a browser. It's the Finder/Explorer with benefits. It can no more ignore files than they can. What's on your hard drive comes from your OS, and Bridge just spits it back out with you with better previews and more options.  Not gathering up all the files is what a DAM, like LR or a 3rd party DAM, can do. You can say "only catalog" these files and "don't catalog" those files.

What you can do in Bridge is choose to filter only on the files in a folder that match the format you're interested in. Or remove all the file types from folders you want to use for a more limited view of your hard drive. Put the alias to folders of files with the format you want in your Favorites panel (right click on the folder and say Add to Favorites) and only click on those folders when you're in Bridge. That's the most permanent way to not be bothered by all those other files.

Thank you Cristen.  I'll try your suggestions.
