Solved

Lightroom Classic/Camera Raw: "Edit with..." -"Open"does not work for photos from NAS

Hi there,

because of massive performance problems I decided to perform a "clean install" with my MacPro.

Performance sometimes is better - but sometimes it ́s still crap :(

Now a further problem came to me:
I am not able to edit photos in Photoshop or Nik Collection by "Edit with..." when my photo is located on a Synology NAS.

If it is located locally or on a external ThunderBoldt drive it works as suggested.

When trying to edit a photo that is stored at my Synology NAS in PS e.g. I right-click it, choosing "Edit with..." Photoshop CC2019.
Then PS ist opening - but nothing more happens...
When trying to move that photo with drag/drop in to PS, PS tells me "file not found".

What can I do? It was working as suggested before performing a "clean install"

System:
Mac Pro late 2013
Mojave - latest version, but no public or develop Beta!
Creative Cloud - so most current versions of LR an PS (checking daily for new versions)

Photos are stored:
- locally in Pictures folder - no problem
- on a external thunderboldt drive - no problem
- on my Synology NAS - does NOT work.

My NAS Folder is mounted as Volume like: "apfs://192.168.xxx.xxx/Lightroom"
I am able to access that NAS folder without any problems! I am able to move photos from locally to the NAS in LR, I am able to move photos from the NAS to a local folder using LR to...

Thank you!

When is this to be fixed? Hard to believe it was possible to release updates with such a fundamental bug

Its a week from the update and this major bug has still not been resolved.
WTH Adobe? Do you WANT production environments to skip to other products then keep on...

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Camera Raw 11.2 does not open .dng from Bridge to Photoshop for Server .dng File....

New Version of Camera Raw 11.2 does not open .dng from server in Photoshop Module of Camera Raw when opening from Bridge. Gives "file not found" message. Photoshop opens .dng from local disk, opens in Bridge Module of Camera Raw, and also opens from finder in Photoshop Camera Raw. Just not in Photoshop module of Camera Raw, when opening from Bridge for server files. Obvious workaround is to use Bridge Camera Raw Module and then save dialog box to save to .psd on server, which then open normally in Photoshop from Bridge. Less convenient than just opening in Photoshop Camera Raw and then using Open Image button to continue to Photoshop to save as .psd. And yes there is also an Open Image Button in Bridge Camera Raw, but it doesn't work either, launches photoshop but does not open in Photoshop Camera Raw. Can live with this for now if I have to, but if it stops working in Bridge Camera Raw with future update, what then?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled workflow LR to PS.

Ever since I remember, it was possible to open photos out of LR in PS and proceed working in PS - saving and sending back.Since the last update this is no longer possible.
Chat informed, that it is not possible to work with photos on a server - but my server is configured as an external drive and it worked for years ...
Any ideas or solutions?

Try downgrading to Camera RAW 11.0  Others report that helps, but I don't know the long term consequences

This is indeed frustrating. We need to have our raw files on a server as multiple people need to access those images. The problem exists with any raw file, as well as with any jpeg, tiff or psd that has been modified in raw, whether in Lightroom, or Bridge

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Selecting 'edit in Photoshop' from Lightroom Classic not working.

On Sunday before turning off my computer I checked for LR and PS updates and processed those plus one for Camera Raw.  I am now running LR is 8.2, Camera Raw is 11.2, Photoshop CC is 20.0.3

I work on a MacBook Pro running Mojave.

When I opened my computer on Monday and restarts, rechecking for updates and other troubleshooting I can still not edit with photoshop from a photo in Lightroom.  This is a standard part of my workflow and I have been using these Adobe products for over a decade and rely on this integration, it's what makes them so good.

When I perform this step what I am seeing is that it opens Photoshop 2019 OK but remains on the home page, the photo itself does not open.

There is a conversation in the Photoshop community page of others also experiencing this, those of us who have commented so far are using these versions on a Mac, one person has commented that they have the same versions on Windows and don't have an issue.

Try downgrading your Camera RAW to 11 or 11.1.  Others have reported that fixes the problem.  Whether it causes other problems, I don't know for sure.

Thanks Steven, I've just done that and it's a good workaround while we wait for the fix

Hi,

I have same trouble, my NAS is qnap.

I found temporary solution that is open Finder with column mode.
You know, OSX Finder show preview of selected picture when column mode.
in my case, while only in this state, Photoshop does work.
If need multiple picture at same time (open as layer, make panorama, etc...), should open Finder"s" for each picture.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Camera Raw 11.2 Mac OS Mojave - Bug cannot load .dng nor .arw from NAS.

Hello world,

after hours of trying to figure out why Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 version 20.0.3 doesn't open my images from Lightroom or directly from my finder anymore. (Error: The request Could not complete your request because the file was not found.)

I came to the conclusion that it is related to the newest Adobe Camera Raw Update (Version: 11.2). After downgrading it to version 11.1 everything started to work again. DNGs, ARWs could be opened again from my NAS drive. (It doesn't matter whether AFP or SMB) both failed with ACR 11.2.

If anyone from Adobe is reading this, I would appreciate a quick fix and an update.

Thank you in advance. Any reply is appreciated.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Lightroom Classic: Won't open files in Photoshop.

Lightroom Classic CC stopped opening files in Photoshop CC. Selecting "Edit in..Adobe Photoshop CC 2109" opens photoshop but no photo opens. This has crippled my entire workflow. LR & PShop are both latest versions. I unintsalled & reinstalled both, losing all my prefs, and stilll have the same problem. iMac Pro, os 10.14 Mojave, latest versions.

Downgrading to Camera RAW 11.1 has helped a lot of people.  I don't know whether this will create legacy issues.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled EDit in Photoshop 2019 not working after upgrade.

  Upgraded to LR 8.2
and Photoshop 20.0.3 on Mojave 10.14.3.  Prior to upgrading everything worked. (Files are
on a Synology RAID).  After doing some testing I found:

1.
I can use Edit in...in LR  to open everything but raw files (.nef) in
PS.  I can open .png, tif, psd and jpg without issue.

2.
Everything opens just fine in LR.   If I try and drag and drop a .nef
into directly photoshop  I get "Could not complete your request because
the file was not found." If I use Edit in....PS opens but file doesn't
with no error.

3. If a copy a .nef to my desktop and drag and drop to photoshop it opens in camera raw.

4. If a open the same desktop copy of the .nef file in LR  and then try Edit in....it doesn't work.

5.
I reinstalled the previous versions of LR and PS where everything
worked but I am now having the same issues with those versions.

6. In addition, I had to reload my workspaces and actions after the upgrade.

7. I also can no longer use the Lumenzia 7.0 plugin. It worked fine before the upgrade. I tried reinstalling, doesn't work.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled I can't open raw files using Bridge/Photoshop/RAW across an AFP server..

I updated Photoshop and Camera Raw CC on 3/1/19 and now I can't
open raw files using Bridge/Photoshop/RAW across an AFP server. I receive an error prompt "Could not complete your request because the file was not found."

If I copy the
RAW files to my desktop they open fine. I can also open across the server using
a competitor editor. Or, if I change the server path from AFP to SMB, I can
open in Photoshop/RAW. I prefer to keep the server AFP to enable search
capabilities within the finder.

This problem arose immediately after the said
update.

Hi Aaron. I had precisely the same problem. Solved it, without Adobe help of course, by following a users suggestion that I downgrade to cameraraw 10.5. Now my workflow is back!
