Camera Raw No Longer Recognizes Sigma 17-70 Contemporary for Lens Corrections

Sigma pushed out lens firmware ver 1.03 for its 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC MACRO OS HSM C013 on May 17, 2017.  Since then, Camera Raw is unable to identify the lens in its Lens Corrections.  When clicking on "Enable Profile Corrections", Camera Raw does not auto populate.  Via link below are two Canon raw images.  Image IMG_0473.CR2 is before lens firmware update, IMG_0135.CR2 is after lens firmware update.

Please revise Camera Raw's lens correction definition table to reflect Sigma's new firmware change.  Thank you.

This was fixed in Camera Raw 10.1 or later. Let us know if you're still having trouble.

Thanks for reporting this. I can confirm that the FW change altered the EXIF lens string used by the profile matching logic, which is why the match doesn't work with the new FW. The fix is simple, and I will submit it for inclusion in a future release of Camera Raw. In the meantime, after manually picking the correct profile, you can set a new Lens Profile Default from the Lens Corrections panel for the images made with the new FW. The new default setting will pick the right profile for that camera/lens combination and can later be removed once the fix is released publicly.

- Chris

Followup question-  Once I "Set New Lens Profile Default" on my computer's Camera Raw, would other people's Camera Raw running on their computer receive the same correction treatment by having the XMP sidecart file for the image?

Yes. If you have settings applied that include the lens profile, the XMP sidecar will contain the profile name and will be applied on other systems running Camera Raw as long as they have the profile installed on disk.
