Bridge: Since installing 2019, I'm seeing Excel metatdata files. Anyone know why?

The XMP files are "sidecar" files that hold the metadata for your raw camera images for use in Bridge/ACR. You could elect to use the ACR database instead of these sidecar files if you wished (I personally prefer the sidecar files). Bridge Camera Raw Preferences > General: Save image settings in...

You should be able to hide the sidecars from display with the view menu > show hidden files command.

The icon is MS Excel based as that is what the Bridge or perhaps OS file type association is set to for whatever reason. Bridge Preferences > File Type Associations

XMP files are not hidden files, so the View > Show Hidden Files menu should not show/hide them. The explanation is probably that the File Type Associations are not set correctly in the System. Bridge Preferences > File Type Associations does not show XMP files however, so you can't correct it there.

Out of curiosity, I checked Show Hidden files, and forgot about it! Thanks for reminding me. (I was also seeing .bridgesort and .DS_store.)
