Bridge CS6: Problem with Long Delay to Process Use Input and Mouse Clicks
I'm pretty sure I know what Bridge is doing in regards to cache and thumbnails. I have no beef with the building of cache and delays here. What is a complete show stopper for me however is this: After a clean build of my cache of 30K photos and videos, Bridge CS6 will work quite well for a few days. Then after a few files are move around, deleted, and folders are created, the program becomes sporadically latent in responding to my commands. I'm talking about things like changing the sort order. Click it and 10 seconds later the popup menu shows up. Once I've waited around for this, and set the sort order, there are no more delays on that action. I can normally do 3 or four things with no delay, then another one. 8-10 seconds waiting for Bridge to recognize I've clicked something. There is no Bridge CPU activity occuring on my Windows 7, HP Quad-Core with 24Gb of RAM during these delays. I've been searching for the answer to this for a long time and lost weeks of time experimenting. I've tried distributed cache and central cache. The latter seems to be the only one that is close to working properly. I believe there are bugs in the distributed mode, because there are continual thumbnail extraction actions in that mode. I've tried small record size cache and large (You know the famous unmarked slider), nothing matters. I don't believe that I saw this behavior with CS4 or CS5, but I'm dealing with 24Mp images now. In fact the problem really seemed to start on the day that I got my Nikon D600 even though I didn't update any software for a week or so. I must be able to get it this work! WHAT IS THIS APP DOING THAT PREVENTS IT FROM PROCESSING MY MOUSE COMMANDS? I have no other issues on this computer with any app.
