Premiere Elements 15: Importing Media 'Importer reported a generic error'
This problem is for PC with Adobe Premiere Elements 15. I am in the beginning stages of making a new video and I was importing all of my movie files of all different file types. It came back with the extremely descriptive error of 'the importer reported a generic error' and gives me a list of the files that cannot be imported. It is a random bunch of files and I can't find a connection with them to solve why they won't import. I have tried changing the file type, making a copy of the file and trying the duplicate, and updating and restarting my APE. I have also tried opening a new project and importing the specific files that won't work. Keep in mind, I am not a super technical person, but I can follow step by step instructions to solve a problem. I also would prefer not to download any applications.

Can you please list down the extensions of those files which cant get imported? Premiere elements is capable of handling a specified set of file extensions only. If your files fall outside that bracket, then the import error would come.
