Elements: Support scalable user interface UI for high resolution monitors

Hi,

The fonts in Photoshop menus, toolbars and dialog boxes are too small for me, making the sotware almost unusable. I tried to find a way to enlarge them, but there seems to be no solution. Searches on Google confirmed this.

The time when people with CRTs were lowering the resolution to increase font size is over, really. Now we have LCDs with native resolution of almost 1080p, if not more, so there is truly a need to adjust font size. Windows 7 has a facility allowing to scale fonts of application, this works for many programs, but Photoshop and also Premiere seem to just override this and make a custom UI with tiny fonts.

Fortunately for me, I discovered this while trying the demo version. I will probably have to choose some other product for image and video editing.

Elements 13 supports HiDPI (high resolution displays) by providing 200% scaling for monitors with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 or greater. 

The Surface Pro 3 has a monitor resolution of 2160 x 1440 (the vertical height is too short to support 200% scaling of some dialogs). The Elements team is looking into the possibility of supporting 200% on a Surface Pro 3.

I have a QHD (1440p) display for which I've set Windows 10 to 125%. Elements shows controls that are too small.

Elements 13.1, which was released yesterday, provides manual control for settings 200% scaling for HiDPI:



Choose Help>Updates... to install the update.

How do you make the icons and menu fonts larger in elements 10? I have my DPI at 150% and changing this appears to make no change (it did in PSE9) Thanks

I had this problem in PSE8 and thought with all the complaints about it, that adobe would correct the problem in PSE10, but apparently they didn't. I mean the font is sooooooo small, no one can read the menu bar or task bar comfortably. What are they thinking? And just an FYI - I tried the trial version on my 17" laptop, but that's the computer I need to use the PSE on, so after trying it and realizing that you still can't increase the font size on the menu bar, I will have to try another photo editing program because I simply can't work on this. It's bizzare that adobe still hasn't corrected this extremely annoying problem.

I would like to be able to increase the font size of the drop down menus, tools, key word tags, etc. in Photoshop Elelments. I'm having vision problems and the small font is difficult to read.

I have a large monitor but going to full screen doesn't change the size of the font significantly (or at all). Changing the display properities for the monitor also doesn't affect the font size of the program.

If anyone knows how to do this please let me know. If not, I'd like to suggest this as a feature for future versions.

Adobe are a disgrace. Selling a product which they know is not compatible with high resolution screens. And who are most likely to buy high res screens? Yip photographers. I have tried contacting customer support but there isn't any. Shit product and shit support. I am seeking an alternative and an address for Adobe to send their crap back to (bought it on amaxon)

I bought photoshop elements 12 in July so no , I am not eligible for an upgrade and If you think I am paying for an upgrade you are very much mistaken. I have been searching various forums (due to your world class customer service) and it seems that you have been aware of this problem for over two years and have done nothing. You are selling a product unfit for purpose. Now let's see if your north Korean censor will allow this to be posted !

How can I enlarge the font & icon size--now barely readable--in pse 7 and pse 10 ?? Same 24" monitor..just new computer. And suddenly terribly small font. Did not have the problem a mo. ago with the old computer. Anyone have an answer ??

Adobe uses its own Flash-based tool (I think it's called Flex) to build all the user interfaces, which can't be scaled. The full version of Photoshop allows you to make the text bigger, but not icons. None of the other Creative Suite applications allow this.

Adobe doesn't seem to care one whit that people can't read the tiny text and icons. I think Adobe's programmers are all 22 years old. I was considering getting Elements 10 for my husband, but his eyes are worse than mine and he can't use the program at all. So Adobe loses yet one more customer!

No, 99.9% of the UIs are not Flash. Only Flash Panels and File Info are using Flash for the UI.

I apologize for my error. The fact remains that the user interface on all the Adobe products I own and use regularly are extremely difficult to use on a high-resolution monitor due to tiny, unreadable text and icons. Minimum readable font size for MOST people over the age of 40 is around 12pt. Adobe UI elements seem to run around 9pt or less and are poorly (if at all) anti-aliased.

Icons are gray-on-gray and extremely small. I have an enormous monitor and I have to squint to look at the icons?? WTF??

Why is Adobe so reluctant to make the UI resizable?

Seriously Adobe, What is up with the size of fonts icons etc in your software. It sucks!!!
Using PSE7 worked okay on laptop with Vista 32bit and now so small on Windows 7 64bit laptop. WILL NOT upgrade to any Elements or CS's until problem is addressed. This may open the door for other editing software out there. If I have to struggle to read , no new purchases!!!!!!!!!!!

PSE 7 icons, fonts and dropdown menus are small and hard to read. I went from a 15" screen to a 15.6" screen. Shouldnt have an effect. I tried changing window font size, didnt help. What happened?

Does anyone at Adobe care to listen their subscribers?????? I see Im not the only one that cant read fonts, icons and dropdown menus. I refuse to upgrade and pay well earned money until something is addressed with photoshop elements!!!!
Should be an automatic update to all Photoshop software. FREE as well.
