Selection tools in CS6 64bit cause background to flicker in Windows 8 64bit. The background flickers between transparent and black.

When you run Photoshop CS6 in Windows 8, the image canvas is transparent or flickers.

Change the GPU Drawing Mode to Basic:
In Photoshop, choose Edit > Preferences > Performance.
Select Advanced Settings.
Choose Basic from the Drawing Mode pop-up menu.
Click OK to close the dialog boxes.
I solved the problem by activating a setting in the catalyst driver menu
I could set Performance to extended/advanced in Photoshop CS 6 and it worked.
(Windows 8 / 64bit / Radeon 7970 / Catalyst 13.1)
Go to the Catalyst Control Panel:
You'll find it then unter Gaming -> 3D Application Settings -> Frame Rate control _> Wait for Vertical Refresh: Set it to ON or ON, unless application specifies
