Lightroom 4 Library Module; Searching for camera, lens, or file type in the Metadata tab, I get "No photos match the filter". With 55K images, I should have something show. Metadata is ok when viewed in the metadata palate on the right side of the screen.
This catalog is an upgrade from LR 3.6.
Another new catalog with only 5K images shows the information that is missing in my mail catalog.
Lightroom: No photos match filter in the Library Filter Metadata tab

The Metadata filter is now working in my main (not mail as written above) catalog, after importing today's newly taken photos. Not sure why the filter now works, but it does.
I do know how to use Lightroom having been a user since LR1.0.
I even sell keyword lists for importing into Lightroom.
I still would be interested in knowing if anyone else has reported this problem. -
-
It seems I have the same problem, refer to http://feedback.photoshop.com/photosh...
I imported all the photos from the catalog with the problem to another one - all OK. Both catalogs are upgrades from LR3.6. I don't know the reason but my guess is that there is bug in the upgrade function and it sometimes slightly corrupts the catalog - one out of four catalogs in my case. -

I know the following steps will reproduce it, but there may be other ways to do it as well:
1) Select "All Photographs"
2) Go to Map module and find a location that has at least one photo
3) Select "Visible on Map"
4) go back to Library
5) quit and restart lightroom
6) change filters to some other set (Default Columns will work)
7) select a filter on anything
You will now see a set of pictures that doesn't match what the filters describe because Lightroom is still applying the "Current Map Location" filter, it's just not showing it to you. The only way I have found to get rid of that filter is either to go back to the Map module and click "None" on the filter bar or to change the metadata columns to put "Map Location" first and switch it back to "All"
I suspect this is the cause of the "Filters not working" thread on the LR4b forum that never got resolved.
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
Map location filters persist in Library mode, even if they're not displayed. -

Installed LR4.1RC and my problem disappeared (http://feedback.photoshop.com/photosh...)

I too have this problem and have updated to RC1 and I still get "No photos match the filter".
The only way I can get the filter in Library to work is to go back in to the Map module and click None on the Location Filter -

I have exactly the same problem as described above which is overcome through neutralising the filter in the Map Module - however, this "bug" or "feature" depending on your interpretation really needs to be fixed.

I am unsure if our replies are falling on deaf ears, because this thread or topic has solved accross the first post?
It might be good (I do not know if this is currently possible?) to be able to re-open topics that may have been resolved for some (the original poster) but not for others. -

For what it's worth, I can't reproduce it in 4.1RC1, so my method, at least, is solved.
