I am getting this error message when opening Lightroom 3 after installing Lion. The Lion installation was not simple. It took me an hour with Apple tech support to regain access to my normal sign in account.
Here is the message.
The Lightroom catalog cannot be used because the parent folder “/Users/thomasbarry/Pictures/Lightroom” does not allow files to be created within it.
How can I rectify this issue?
Thanks

Lightroom: Permissions error accessing catalog after upgrading to Lion

Sounds like your OS has 'permissions' problems - which is probably why the upgrade to Lion didn't go smoothly in general. Personally, I'd do a clean install of Lion to get back to fresh state. Otherwise, you can use the following document from Apple to address permissions issues with OS X:

Jeff: Sorry to start this dialogue again. I solved my access problem by going to my Lightroom 3 catalogue and changing read only permissions to read/write. I have no clue why that happened but probably related to the problems in installing Lion. Now, I have access to my master catalogue. It opens up in Lightroom. But, there is a problem. What I see is the outline of my file structure on the left, the order, ranking ( stars and colors ) on the photos but what I can't see is the actual photos. Any idea how this can be remedied.
Thanks

Are the thumbnails grey/empty? I think this thread may help:
