Have you tried changing the pixel size in the upper 2 edit boxes instead of the lower ones?

It's designed this way for a reason. Users need to see how document dimensions and resolution affect pixel dimensions and file size.
If they were all under the same pop-up, you wouldn't be able to evaluate the changes without constant flip-flopping of pop-ups. -

regretting upgrading from pse 4.0. Considering getting a refund and reverting to 4.0!!!
Up until now I used pse 4.0 which I bought on eBay for $ 6.00 !!!
Everything was fine, resize worked as expected, entering the information where ALL other info is entered.
Also, when I closed pse 4.0 it opened with the image I sent to it (dragging or right click).
Now, it always opens with the last picture I worked with last and I am all finished working on - WHY?
pse9 SUCKS! This is the worst $99.00 I ever spent. -

Addendum!
The reopening of previous files is a OS X Lion issue!
I have finally found the tick box to switch it off, so pse9 is opening now with the image I want.
Still, the only feature that pse 4.0 did not have is the automatic fill of panorama edges. Very neat... if it works. I combined 6 photos with 12 megapixel and the panorama is excellent. The fill-in, however, stopped with "Not enough memory" - on a 4GB MacBook Pro.
Remember the days when Bill Gates quoted: "640k memory should be enough for everyone"!!! -
